Default Weight Loss Speed

Hi

I'm doing Atkins Induction for 4 weeks now and have a weekly weigh in. I'm very happy with the results and have fairly strictly adhered to the program but I don't find keeping to it too hard. I've lost 17 lbs in this order. 7,5,0,5.
What I wanted was other peoples results and was wondering had anyone else had similar results and if so how long could this speed of loss continue.

Also what is the best Low Carb websites to Order from to get deliveries to Ireland. I found an Irish one http://www.low-carb-ireland.com/ but it is not active yet. Does know anything about it or of any Active Irish sites.

Thanks
Dave

A person can reasonably expect to lose about 10% of the way to goal during a clean, strict Induction. That would be 3.5 pounds in your case (235-200=35 so 10% = 3.5 pounds) You lost DOUBLE that.

Then you would lose about 5% of the way to goal each month. About 2 pounds for you. So you are already WAY ahead of "reasonable expectations". By the way, the 3rd week with no loss seems to be the norm rather than the exception. It is considered an "period of adjustment" after the big loss in the previous 14 days.

That said, the closer you are to goal, the slower you lose. And a person should EXPECT to have periods of weeks or months when no pounds disappear. The last 10 pounds go VERY slowly. But that gives you time to really learn how to eat LC for the rest of your life so you won't regain. You should NEVER go off the LC way of eating.

Since you are 5'9", I suspect that 200 pounds is an interim goal for you and your actual goal weight may be around 160 when you get down. Figure 100 pounds for the 1st 5 feet, then add 5 pounds for each inch over that = 100 + 45 = 145. BUT men should add 10 - 15 pounds more as the muscle mass is different from women. So 145 + 15 = 160

That would explain why you lost more on Induction 235-160 = 75 x 10% = 7.5 pounds. Besides, men ALWAYS lose faster and more on diets of any kind.

Thanks for the quick response. Your 100% correcct about 200 lbs being an interim goal. I will be updating that.
