Cool Hi there!!!!!

I am new in this forum and would like to introduce myself. I was on the LC about 3 years ago and lost +20 pounds. I was doing really good until I started having problems with my back about a year ago. After 4 steroid injections and a back surgery in March I have gained 30 pounds. I started back on the LC diet in July and so far I haven't lost anything. I get very frustrated because I am really trying very hard to stay within the 20 grams of carbs, and still no loss. Could it be that all of the painkillers (Vicodin & Demerol) that I've been for over 8 months have slowed down my metabolism? Or maybe I need more time to get rid of the effects of the drugs. I have been pain-free and haven't had a painkiller in 2 weeks, which is really go, since I was taking them daily. Should I give it more time? Your comments and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for listening!!!!!

Hi Princess

Welcome. You have tried it before and know it works.

I am sorry about your back pain. When in pain it is natural to economise on any movement that would lead to it so you may be right that your metabolism has slowed down a little. It could also be that your painkiller tablets contain carbs.

If you haven't lost anything then you are not in Ketosis. Are you certain your carb content is less than 20g per day? Would you like to start a journal of your own in Bootcamp/Journals and post what you are eating? It helps you to focus more on your intake and helps us with the information we need to help you.

Everytime you stray from the diet - I see it more as a way of eating - a way of life you need to go through the process of Induction. Stay with it, hang around, read some of the posts - it all helps with commitment, motivation, inspiration and support.
Take Care.

Default P.S.

Another thought that just occurred to me which might help accelerate things for you is the Study Project (in the Group Journals) that has just begun. See Karen's announcement on the first line? Check it out and see if you would like to join in. You have until 23rd August to start.
