Default Ladies and Gentlemen over 60 Continued

Since our old thread has been closed I thought I would start a new one for those of us over 60.

I will soon be 62 and still find my weight struggles continue. I have done LC over and over for the past 20 years. I am successful when I limit my carbs to 30 or less/day, but I find it difficult not to give in to the carbs when I'm stressed or happy or when the wind is blowing...I need some support and encouagement as I'm sure many of us do. The older I get the easier it is to resign myself to being overweight. But I know for the sake of my health it is more important than ever.

Please join me on this journey.

Happy Sunny Sat. from FL....howwever up at our home it is only in the 30s!!! Noelle & girls left yesterday at 3 PM...got to Marietta, Ga and now are on the road towards Nashville, then north to Louisville & Indy and north!! Our daughter's will arrive tomorrow afternoon, I think. We have had a fabulous month.....one of or the best----meeting Pam & Rich and being with several other couples....and our kids and my cousin & hubby.....we have been busy, but that's the way we live our lives....we sleep well at night....and go go during the day...sometimes we rest....too much eating out right now....but we leave this TH very early to make it to TN somewhere & on home F......can't wait to see my Peek-a-Boo Ragdoll Cat....I miss him so much......next year and all following, he IS coming back with us.....someone said there is an Art-Craft Show up in A.Maria.....we are going to check it out in a while...just got back from Cortez Cafe Bkfst....I had a bowl of fruit and a blueberry muffin....and coffee of course. Hope to see you, yet, Pam, but if not...we will keep in touch and see ya next year Lord willing. Glo...good to hear from you--have missed you a lot----you know, I am wondering if you were real strict 6 days of the week, then allow yourself to eat whatever you want (in moderation) one day per week---do you think that would help??? xooxoxo

Glad you found us Glo!!

Very stressful day, but since I've found that some of my posts show up when I google myself, I'll not vent! LOL! Tomorrow will also be stressful. My eating today has been crazy. Calorie-wise I'm low, but LC, I'm high.

Have a great weekend!

My DIL used to be strict LC during the week and not on the weekend. She lost a lot of weight.

Good Morning! It's another dreary day, hopefully it will clear up! The weather has been perfect here so we're due some rain! We really needed it!

I'm afraid I have fallen off the LC wagon again. I guess it's because I just don't have the energy to make sure I plan ahead. I'm tired after work and I don't feel like cooking and it's easier to have something delivered-which is never LC. Or, when we go out it's just too tempting to eat the wrong things. I long for the old days when I could set my mind on something and make it a priority and stick with it-for a whole lot longer than a week!!!

Have a great week!!

Hi PandaGramy,

I'm in Fort Myers and am 66 years old. You are right, as we age, change is difficult and sometimes it doesn't seem worth it.

You are still working, which makes it even harder. Are you planning to retire soon?

I am retired and find that its easier to eat when I want to, instead of just my lunch hour. I think planning ahead becomes simpler also.

Welcome, eastbruce! I hope you'll join us!

Retirement? What's that? LOL! A couple of years ago I decided to start a little business for something to do and some extra money. Ha! It has grown from one booth at the Red Barn Flea Market to a storefront on the Market Plaza. I love it, but I'm afraid it consumes me 7 days a week (we're open 6). Unfortunately, I don't devote much, if any, time to taking care of me. My hubby works with me now so our whole life seems to revolve around the business. My biggest goal is finding a balance between work and home. Haven't figured that out yet! This old dog needs some new tricks!! LOL!

PandaGgramy,

I see you are getting some heavy rain up there in Sarasota and its headed my direction, but I don't think either of us will get the storms that were up in Tampa/Clearwater area earlier today.

My goal was to retire early and I did at age 55. You have to do what makes you happy and it sounds like that is whats going on in your life. The amount of time you spend working must be incredible. But, they do say if you enjoy doing it, its not work!

We did get a lot of rain, but you're right-nothing like north of here! The weather is beautiful now!!

I do love my business and I love my customers. I hate to see season end though-the summer is really stressful!

Hi All, We made it through Tampa area on I-75 Thur. just fine--we left our condo on AMI at 3:52 AM.....and arrived up in Lake City for bkfst about 7:30....we did drive in some rain, some heavy, some just steady...but we heard about the storms/tornadoes and very high winds with some power outages--from our daughter who was in the St Pete area that day....and friends in Bradenton. Glad we missed it -- or it missed us!! I hate being in the car, on the road, in a storm like that!! Wishing you all a great Sunday...and week to come. Keep doing your best at eating healthy....and less. I wish my feet weren't giving me so much trouble--I would be walking more---the sky is very red this morning, so there will be more rain up here in Indiana. Hi Rich!! and Pam.....will look forward to next March to go out with you again!!! Vicki, your Hoosier Bud (Yeah for Butler Bulldogs!!--that Univ. is in Indy)

I'm really excited! Today another internet friend, since 1999 on another weightloss board, is coming for a visit at the store. Her mom is in Zepherhills and they are going to drive down this morning!! Can't wait to meet her! It's was great meeting Vicki, from this board, last month!
