Default Quick question about flour...

I love to bake, especially during the holidays. I have a favorite jam filled cookie recipe that I make every year at Christmas, and can EASILY see it being a wonderful low carb treat using a low carb jam/jelly, but Im at a loss regarding flour. Any suggestions as to what the best alternative is to white flour? Really dying to give this a try sometime soon, and promise to post the recipie if it turns out nicely =)

You can start experimenting with various combinations of the following...almond meal, soy protein isolate, whey protein isolate, wheat gluten, flax, bran...

It's best to start with an existing LC recipe and fiddle with it until it's right for you.

Sorry I can't be a but more helpful, but every recipe needs a different combination and I haven't tackled cookies yet!

*grin* thanks a ton! Even a place to start helps a lot really... Next time I go shopping Ill pick up a few things and try with 1/2 batches til I nail it.

These cookies are so deliciously decadant... and the base for the crust is cream cheese and butter so they are very rich. Ill let you know how it goes!

Thanks for the quick response!!

if a recipe (from carpender's book) needs soy protein powder and soy protein isolate, can I just use 1 of them in the amount for both?

Nope! As I recall she says specifically in her book to use what she specifies or you won't get the right result.

Hi rickb41!

You can post recipes by going to:

Kitchen: Low-Carb Recipes

You'll see the forum laid out in categories. All you have to do is post it in the right area. It doesn't need my seal of approval.

You need to have 25 posts before you can PM. You'll soon be there!

Karen
