Update:

I can read private messages via the User CP link

but if I reply to them I get a stall like the system is trying to contact the server.

I've been trying for 2 days to send a PM to a member. She got my first PM a few days ago, but hasn't been able to respond. Now, I can't get the darned thing to work, either!
