Default New in the UK

Hello to everybody, I am new in the UK after coming from Spain. I have been successfully using Atkins for some time already. In recent times I have noticed a plateau, but we will see.

I mainly use natural products (meat, fish, eggs, cheese, vegetables ...) so in principle it should not be too difficult to adapt to the UK. However, there are several things I knew where to buy in Spain but I unfortunately cannot find here.

May I ask you which good things do you buy, apart from the usual meat, fish etc, and are Atkins compliant?

I have seen the name of 'cream' in several posts. What is in fact cream? How many carbs does it have? Is it really Atkins compliant, or not so much but people eat it?

A second question is with vitamins and Omega 3-6-9. Where do you buy the vitamins and the Omega 3-6-9? In the Spanish Atkins forum, people were very strongly opinionated in favour of vitamins low if iron, and Omega 3-6-9 being better than only Omega 3. What do you think?

Thank you and looking forward to stay around here.

Hi and welcome to the board

I don't buy any 'special' lowcarb products as to me Atkins is eating from the allowed lists of unprocessed foods.

So I buy meat, fish, cheese, eggs, vegetables, cream, butter, unflavoured yogurt, nuts and the lower GI fruits like berries and melons. Some of these are not allowed at the begininning phase of Atkins but are added later.

Cream is the richest product of milk production and on Atkins is allowed from the start in small quantities (2-3 tablespoons) then increased if your body can handle it when adding more dairy products during the second phase (ongoing weight loss).

What things that you used to buy in Spain are you missing?

Hi Elizellen
I eat pretty much like you. I don't count carbs as these foods are all quite low carb. I don't follow any special diet as I came across this way of eating because I suffered very badly from heartburn. When I left bread out the heartburn disappeared and the weight started to drop. It was only when I foolishly started to put other things back in they my weight increased. Silly me. Your profile looks terrific.
Thanks.
Sayria
