Yeah, triglycerides up too. I'm finding my fasting blood sugar goes up the more protein I eat. I have to cut back to get those numbers down. Maybe the longer we are LC the easier it is for our body to convert protein to glucose?

It could also be the result of physiological insulin resistance:
If you haven't heard of it, start reading here:
http://ketopia.com/physiological-insulin-resistance/

My FBG has been slowly rising from pre-LC numbers, up some every six months by lab tests while on LC to this past January, when I finally went over 100. My morning self-test numbers are now 100-110. I have been trying NK, reducing my protein to around 60g, upping fats to 75-80% and limiting calories for the past 12 days. No improvement... This morning was 105. My fasting insulin had also gone up in January, definitely not want I want for cancer prevention.
Peter at Hyperlipid goes through long explanations why a LCHF eater's high FBG is different from a SAD eater's.
Frankly, I'm not happy either and not sure I buy into these explanations...but Haggis, this may explain your higher FBG.

Thanks for chiming in ladies! Lots to think about.

I think the reasons my sugars and trigs are up are pretty straight forward. I'm insulin resistant and IGT. Eating more carbs than I can handle will give me higher sugars and higher trigs.

Of late, I've been in the bush, clearing bush and rely on others (extended family) for food. I'm also sensitive to the fact that it's a lot of work prepping and making the meals out there.

With regards to protein, I too have noticed that eating too much will cause my sugars to jump. I don't know if I'm just get more efficient at it, more systems needing glucose, or just getting older (I was told I'm 46.)

I've cut back on said protein, but in turn also screwed up my iron levels. I was deferred 8 weeks ago for low levels when trying to donate blood. Argh...

The good news in all this is that electrical should be put in this week (that is, a pole with a fuse box.) That means, I can bring things more compatible foods out there with me.
