I made more jam tonight. This time raspberry. I've always wanted to learn how to can stuff. Looks like I'm on my way

I made the decision today to start tracking my calories. Seriously track them. I've had the feeling for a while now that I've needed to do it, but never got around to it. I just wasn't ready to count anything. If I wait until I am "ready"...well...I'll never be ready, so I have to just do it I started a Fitday account to track things and then looked around online to find an average of how many calories per day I would need to lose. It's around 1400 cals. I don't know how many I have been having on a daily basis, but figure aiming for 1400 is a starting point and then I will just have to tweak things until I find what works best for me. That it's summer time and the garden is teeming with fresh veggies, going low(er) cal should be easy and

According to fitday, I've only managed 1115 cals for the day ... hmmm

I'm new to SB so I don't feel really comfortable with it yet. I'm cooking chicken soup with stock I made from a free-ranging chicken I roasted. I'm adding celery, onions, turnips, carrots, zucchini and amaranth along with the chicken that fell off the bones. I think it is going to be good.

Susan, I'm new with South Beach too. I think I had a pretty good day today, the only thing that I'm wondering about and I think it's not Phase 1, help me here Judy, is I had Butterball lean turkey bratwurst tonight for dinner with a large salad. I've never had the turkey brats and I LOVE brats, but I think that even if their not P1, I've found a healtier version of the pork brats that I usually ate in the past.

I made the bean bread in an 8x8 pan. It didn't look too pretty when it was done (I think it fell) but the taste was great. I bought some ff plain yogurt today and I'm going to put a little sf pudding mix in it and eat it later. I wonder if you can use sf jello in it. I think I'm going to try a little bit and see what happens. If you all hear a kaboom, you know not to try it!!! LOL.

AND, I figured out how to add my current weight. That was last Tuesday's weight, I always weigh in on Tuesday's so i will be adding a new one on Tuesday. Don't know about this week, we'll have to see on Tuesday. This new WOE is confusing me a little, I read the SuperCharged book a little while before bedtime last night.

C ya all later.

Hey Rebecca and Susan!!

Feel free to jump in anywhere you are comfy Susan!!

Rebecca-
Try to remember to bring to dates across the top of the weighin also.

On the brats- its imortant to read all ingredient labels on processed meats like these. Many do have corn syrup and are not your best choice for protein. I know they taste good but they are not what is called "clean food" due to the additives. The best sausage you can get is one where you know exactly whats in it, like from your local butcher. or make your own!!

I'm going to have to give that bean cake a try...its not a free food so portion control is going to be important. I enjoy getting my beans in the form of dips or soups.

I've been reading the Super Charged SBD book. It had an interesting piece of info on Pomegranate juice. Dr A says that this is the only fruit juice that he recommends to drink due to its special properties And because its basically bitter, to use it in water or club soda to make a spritzer.

I'm buying pomegranate juice tomorrow!!

Judy, what do you mean by carrying over the dates when I post. I'll tell you what I did and tell me if there's an easier way. I think I copied the whole weigh in post, went down to a "new post" and pasted it and then added a few .....'s (haha) and added my weight from last week. Is there an easier way to do it?

How would you suggest to make my own bratwurst? I just pulled the package out that they came in, they were 160 cals per bratwurst, 2 grams of carb and 1 gram of sugar. I remembered seeing sugar on the label when I brought it home and went to look. Is 1 gram of sugar very much, I'm not very knowledgable in the nutrition area.

I too am reading the Super Charged book. I have the original one and also the Super Charged one. What chapter are you on? DH use to drink pomegranate juice a lot but I have a feeling that his had sugar in it. I just asked him if it's bitter and he said, "it can be if it's not sweetened". Guess that's our answer if his had sugar in it!!!

Let me know what you think of the Super Charged book, I know Cindy bought it when it came out from Sams and took it back, I bought it the day it came out but kept it cuz I figured that there has to be something in it that has to be new and since I'm new to this, I decided to keep it.

Everyone have a good week. Susan, don't dessert me, okay? I need someone to learn with. Thanks to you, Judy, for answering my questions and bearing with my learning process.

Judy, what a great idea! I've always wished the beachers had more consistent chatting, all of us together. You rock (as always). And oooh, a pom spritzer sounds delish...

Hi everyone!
