Default Here I go...!

Today is the day! Started off the morning with a delicious crustless quiche Lorraine and plenty of water. Have my salad with ham in the fridge (at work) and a home made feta burger waiting for me for dinner tonight. Drinking lots of water. A little hungry, but not bad.

This non-cook spent time prepping last night and I'm pretty proud of myself. But then again, I cook food only I could like! ;-) Shopped the outer circle of the commissary, which made life so much easier. Bought extra sharp cheddar as my cheese of choice to add to my foods when cooking.

My book still hasn't come in but hopefully, I'm doing this right. Tracking everything so I can be successful! And with that...here goes everything!

Happy first day! What book are you waiting for? There are many editions, people have their Atkins favorites, but the 2002 rules are right up top here ^^^in the Sticky. Follow those, there is a limit for the yummy cheese for example, and you will do fine.
You might want to start a Journal so you have one place to record whatever you want... foods, moods, musings, etc.

I ordered "The New Atkins Made Easy: A Faster, Simpler Way to Shed Weight" (2013)

Sadly, but realistically, watching the cheeses! When I get home, I'll figure out about how many ounces of cheese were in my piece of quiche. I know the amount of feta in my burger for tonight is minimal.

I used the 2010 edition written by three doctors/scientist inc. Dr Westman who became my own doctor. But I have checked the edition you ordered in the library written by the Atkins nutritionist. The company took out the science and added an alternate "easy menu" that was full of products, e.g. Shakes for breakfast, frozen meals, bars for snacks.
Many people on this forum report having trouble losing weight with the Atkins products "net carb" counts. My suggestion would be to follow the "real food" menu...both are offered in 2013 book. Forgot what they called it, but one version used food you made and the easy menu lots of packaged, processed foods. The real food meals are similar to the 2002 advice above but with more vegetables. Using net carbs from vegetables is fine, but from sugar alcohols, not accurate for all. After your LC eating plan is established, add a shake or bar and see if that slows weight loss or not for you. Best,

Absolutely NOT purchasing Atkins foods after reading so many negative comments. Committed to real foods all the way! :-) I received my book yesterday and sure enough, loaded with Atkins food recommendations. Nope. Not doing it!

Welcome Blondiesbf, you're off to a great start. Be patient over the next several weeks as you adjust to this way of eating, and be determined that you will succeed. Many of the changes you'll experience are familiar to the posters here, so continue to reach out and ask questions. And most of all, enjoy the journey, as changes never happen overnight, and it's the journey of consistency that is the most effective way to achieve the goal.

LOL, Blondie: that ticker represents 6 years. The first three, I lost five. All the rest, starting with going grain-free and 45 grams/day, are since July of 2013.

These days, I'm below 20 grams/day, and it's mostly veggies, with the occasional nuts and/or high fat yogurt. Fruit is a once in every few months deal, and then, berries.
