So earlier this year, I stepped on the scale and was over 300 lbs. for the first time in my life. It was shocking to me, but at the time I didn't do anything about it. I was having difficulties in my marriage, felt over-worked and was generally in a depressed mood. My stbx and I are coming to amicable terms so I decided it was time to work on the other aspects of my life.

I started Atkins 1 week ago and stepped on the scale today and found myself down ~10 lbs! I was so happy. I am keeping to a pretty strict induction of leafy greens, lean meats, vegetables, cheeses, and other healthy fats. I even made brownies for my kids and didn't sample so my willpower has been strong.

I am glad I found this forum. I am hoping you all will help keep me accountable in my progress and I have been inspired by all of you. I was browsing the success photos and some of the changes are AMAZING. If I had time to comment on all of them I would, but in lieu of that, congrats to everyone who has worked toward success, you all look amazing.

Welcome! Sounds like you are doing everything right, and do read as much as you can. The more you learn about this w.o.e. the easier it is to turn your back on all the carbage that everybody else considers "normal".

Even with all the stress involved, sometimes major life changes, like a divorce, can propel us into making other important changes. I quit smoking during my divorce and have never been tempted to have a puff since, so I know it can be done.

Keep reading, keep posting. You'll get lots of support, everyone here wants to see you succeed.
