I thought to figure out how many grams of protein to eat you had to figure out your ideal weight. Some posts I read use height. Then you could figure out the fat and carb amounts using the protein grams multiplied by the ratios. Is this incorrect?

You are correct, I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you were adjusting the ratios. Page 46, Optimal Nutrition, Dr Kwasniewski is recommending about 50 grams of carbs a day for the average adult. If the carbs are complex carbs, he doubles this to 100 grams of carbs a day. This is based on the ideal body weight. He says this is 11 ounces of potato a day, which would be the total carbs for the day.

He also adjusts the ratio of fat to protein down while people are losing weight.

Your ideal weight is in proportion to your height. Your height in centimeters, minus 100.

Im 5feet 11inches. This is roughly 180cm. Minus 100, I get 80. This means my ideal weight is 80kg, or about 176 lbs.

I actually weigh 195lbs at roughly 12% bodyfat. I have been weight training for about 4 years, and so Im fairly muscular.

My ratios should be roughly 80:240:40 and I usually eat like 100:200:40 and so Im not that far off.

Start high on fat and low on carbs. Protein should be relatively fixed. Ketones should appear sometimes, and sometimes not. Im usually in ketosis at dinner, which is when I eat almost my entire days worth of carbs.

Arghhh! Trip to Denver cancelled due to the storm. Oh well, now I don't have to be tempted to lick the bacon grease off my plate in public! I guess I'll try a Ribeye another day!

Theres a small market in my town. Its a mexican grocery store and they have a butcher. They usually have ribeye steaks for about $4 a pound, which is a great price, all things considered. 1 pound gives me all the protein I need for a day.

That is a great price! I just picked some up at the local grocery and it's more per pound than New York Strip, which I love. Hope it's tastier!

Personally I like mine rare. Grill on high eat for a few min per side.

Asparagus in butter with salt makes a perfect side.

I like my steak rare as well. Can't grill tonight; got another snow storm. :-( I haven't gotten my book from Poland yet; does anyone know what temperature to bake the Nut Bread at? Also, do you bake it in a loaf pan or a pie pan? The recipe was a little confusing.

Got my book today; already read the first half. Very interesting. Noticed he didn't put oven temperature for any of the baked recipes!

I got Optimal Nutrition. He does list an oven temp for the egg white bread but none for the nut bread. I guess I can try that temp.

Love Ribeye! Grilled it last night. That is now my favorite cut of beef! I think this should be called the meat and potatoes diet; I've already lost 3.6 pounds eating this way. Who would've thought! Now I need to find me a Mexican butcher!

Its like, meat, potatoes, and lard diet. Lol. Ive been eating optimal for like 6 months and I love it. I easily maintain 12% bf without having to weigh or measure anymore. I should also mention I weight 200lbs at 5feet 11in, and so losing muscle isnt an issue either.

Eat lots of fat, some protein, and some carbs.

Tonights dinner is super fatty pork taco salad. Ground pork, diced tomatoes, chopped celery, a little cheese, tons of avocado, and lots of sour cream, topped with chipotle hot sauce.
