Wanted to share this great post by Krista over at Stumptuous:

Rant 63 February 2012: In Praise of Older Women

Esteemed Stumpfans, I present you with this unalterable truth: I ain’t gettin’ any younger. And neither are you.

But unlike the chronophobic youth fetishizers who have an existential crisis when they hit 25, or the media who think that adolescents with partially formed frontal cortexes should drive the bus of cultural currents, I’m cool with aging. After all, as challenging as aging can be, it sure beats the hell out of the alternative.

For one thing, many of us are getting smarter ...

So odd, I got to the stumptuous site just today through Equinox, who suggested it regarding women weight lifters, and now here you are suggesting another of her blogs -- like when you learn a new word and then see it everywhere! i really enjoyed my first foray into stumptuosity, as a TOFF I guess I'll head back and see what other wonderful stuff she has to say!

Now I've read it so I'm editing...priceless! What a great blog entry! She is a wonderful and touching writer, laugh out loud and goosebumps in the same sentence, and inspiring and respectful pictures! Thanks for sharing, I'm going to make her blog a regular stop.

What a great article! I'm only 33 but I've had a wonderful role model on aging in my grandmother. She was an anthropologist and was extremely active both mentally and physically until her death at age 80. Up into her late 70's she would come on day hikes with us, could walk around the San Diego zoo for an entire day, would take off alone on vacation trips to Belize and Rarotonga. She would dazzle my cousin and I with tales of her adventures and the occasional love affair with a man. All up into her 70's. She instilled a love of the arts and opera in myself from an early age.

She beat breast cancer twice and ultimately died to a stroke at 80. But she lived a full healthy active life right up until the end. I only hope that I can follow in her footsteps! She was one amazing powerhouse of a woman.

Fantastic. I looked around a bit, and I like her blog.

As far as getting older, I'm good with it. I proudly announce my age and don't try to hide the fact that I'm not young. Actually, I feel that life after 40 has been far better than life before 40. I can really relate to much of what the writer states.

I liked one of the articles she linked to, about octopus intelligence. Fascinating read!
