Default Breakfast Hi-Protein Mocha Shake

I created this recipe a couple of weeks ago to spice up my usual protein shake. It's nothing special or complicated, but it's yummy, and has about 3894732 different variations you can try

Ingredients/ materials:

2 scoops of your favorite chocolate low-carb protein shake (I use Low Carb Isopure in Dutch Chocolate, or the Vitamin Shoppe brand Low-Carb Shake in Chocolate)

1 cup of black coffee or decaf, slightly cooled (instant or brewed coffee, whatever you like.)

8-10 ice cubes

cinnamon, to taste (I use a lot! To get the health benefits, and because I love the flavor)

blender

Procedure:

Throw the ice and coffee in a blender and blend until crushed. Add one scoop of the protein shake and the cinnamon and blend until combined. Then add the second scoop and blend until smooth. (I find this makes less of a mess than combining everything at once, but you can do that, too )

Enjoy!

You might want to add more water/ coffee/ or ice, depending on how thick you like your shake. I was feeling crazy today and added a bit of chocolate agave syrup to my shake. If you like more sweetness, you can add your favorite sweetener to the coffee before throwing it in, but I find that the sweetness of the protein shake is usually enough.

I tried to recreate Arby's Jamocha shake today. I used a couple scoops of whey protein (vanilla). Added some very strong coffee constituted from instant (just a couple Tbl). Added some Da Vinci hazelnut syrup. Added in a Tbl. of cocoa powder.

It was fabo!

Hazelnut? Is that the flavor in jamocha, or just what you had? (I ask because I have about 30 flavors but have NO idea what to put in that experiment.) That sounds great!

Nancy LC,

I'm not very good at making these... could you tell me how many tablespoons of DaVinci Hazelnut you added? Also, did you add ice?

Thanks.

Katy

I make something quite similar:

1 scoop whey (vanilla or unflavored)
1 c chilled coffee
2 big handfuls of ice
a dash of cream

plus:
either splenda and a flavor extract (my favorites are banana, almond, raspberry, peppermint, etc...)
OR torani (hazelnut, caramel, vanilla, raspberry)

sometimes I also add cocoa powder.

YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Reminds me of a frappucino.

I have made a Pumpkin version with:

Vanilla Protein whey(2 scoops)
1/4 cup 100% pumpkin
1 oz. cream cheese
ice
1 splenda

It was really good and especially for this time of year. Yum

sassy,

Is there more liquid to be added in your Pumpkin version?

I have an old blender and it can't handle too much ice.

Katy- I also make a pumpkin pie smoothie.

My blender is ancient too- I use 1c of almond milk, 1/2 c pumpkin, 1 scoop whey (sometimes), ice, splenda and pie spice or cinnamon and cloves.

And sometimes I add 2oz of cream cheese for a pumpkin cheesecake smoothie....

I make similar to these but to make it stronger I freeze leftover coffee in ice cube trays and then it doesn't get so watered down. Definitely delicious for lunch instead of making something.

Hi all,

I made the coffee shake this morning and it is nice, but I'm new to protein shakes and not sure if I put too much powder in, but it tastes REALLY powdery! Is that normal or is it just the powder I've got? I bought Holland and Barretts 90% Protein Powder in Vanilla.

Also, I live in the UK and don't know where to get the sugar free coffee syrups mentioned on here - Davinci or Torani - I can find some online but it's like £8 postage and package charge which seem crazy! Can anyone help?

Thanks,

:-)
