Default Metformin and Low Carb

Hi Guys,

I am on 2000 mg of Metformin daily for my PCOS. Prior to getting back on low carb I could take that amount with very few side-effects. Now that I am eating low carb (Under 30 grams per day), I am suffering from terrible diarrhea. I am wondering if my dose is now too high.

I feel great on the Met otherwise. The weight loss has not been that great, I was expecting more but I am doing this more so I can regain my fertility.
I would love to know what doses you all are taking (if you are taking it) and how you feel.

Thanks!

I am also on 2000 mgs. metformin for diabetes, and have not had any adverse reactions...I wonder if it is your salads or veggies, although I eat plenty of salads, spinach greens and lots of veggies.....good luck Glo

I took metformin a few years ago when I was trying to get pregnant, had to stop the metformin as the stomach upsets were so bad.

I also take 2000 mgs of XR and have for many many years. I also keep my carbs below 30 and I don't suffer any side effects. I think I have a steel stomach though. If you are taking regular metformin see if you can try the XR version. It may make the difference.

Hiya...I'm new

Just wanted to say that I'm on met and doing low GI/carb diet. I sometimes find dishes with too much onion in can cause my stomach to go wacko like that, but otherwise I have been one of the luck ones to not get too much side effects from the medication.

Hope you can figure out what is causing it.

Thanks guys, it seems to be calming down a little. I am seeing my endrocrinologist on Dec 22nd, I think I will ask about the extended release version.
