Default firm vs. pilates

I have the firm tapes and have been doing them for about a month. I feel that since I'm LCing, that is helping me to drop the pounds, but I need alot of toning, especially by lower abs, and upper thighs. I'm wondering if pilates is a better system for what I am trying to achieve. I just want to be able to run after my kids on the beach this summer in a bathing suit without feeling like I need to cover up! Does anyone have experience with both these workouts? I'd love to hear from someone!

I've done pilates type workouts. But I'm a total firm junkie (I have like 23 of them!) And I think that the combination of free-weights and cardio is better than the stretchy-isometric combo you get from pilates. Plus Firm workouts take ALOT of energy! I like the feeling that I'm burning up the fat!
