Default Clemmy's Ice Cream

I discovered Clemmy's Ice Cream - "All Natural * Sugar Free" - at Whole Foods Markets in Oregon and California. The manufacturer boasts that it is also Lactose Free and Gluten Free and Kosher. Interestingly, they do not mention that it is also low carb, and make a disclaimer that it is "Not for weight control."

This is the best tasting chocolate ice cream I have ever tasted, excepting a couple of Italian gelatos. The Butter Pecan flavor is also delish.

A half cup serving contains 16g fat and 2 net carbs.

....Hmmmmm....

If you read the nutritional label closely (I perused the Vanilla), maltitol syrup is the second ingredient.

18 grams of carbs
4 grams of fiber

The manufacturer is getting 2 net carbs because they are not counting the sugar alcohols.

Can we talk GI distress.

Before partaking, you might want to read this so that if you do decide to partake, you're going into it with full disclousure.

Progress not perfection.

Well, I calculated the net 2 carbs because I don't count the sugar alcohols. The manufacturer doesn't boast net 2 carbs, it only boasts about it being sugar free, lactose free, and kosher.

I have not experienced any gastric distress from this product.

Clemmy's IS delicious, and is the only store-bought ice cream I will eat. However, I get it only on very rare occasions, due to the maltitol and cow dairy.

Probably I do OK with this product because I limit myself to the 1/2C serving size. I've got 2 pints in the fridge, and there they've sat for more than a 10 days, so I guess I don't eat it too often, either.
