Default ugh! made a mistake

Good morning,

Dag nab it! Probably the most difficult thing about Atkins is that when I err it wakes up the ugly demon named cravings!

My husband and I celebrated with a bottle of Champaign on Sunday and boy am I paying for it now!

How soon I forget how DIFFICULT it is for the first 48 hours to stay on track. So here I go again.

So of course yesterday I am trying to battle the sugar cravings all day and I almost make it but by 5:00 I gave in.

So hopefully with a confession and some shame I will make it through the next 2 days!

For me the 2 day mark is key... once I make it 48 hours the cravings decrease significantly. How I can I make myself remember how hard this can be and consuming the carbs just ISN"T WORTH IT!

One way might be to let go or letting pass of the shame and self recriminations through practice Practice being kind to yourself. You're fine just the way your are, right now.

I am not mad at myself because of how my body looks- I am mad at myself because now I have to deal with the cravings all over again

After an excursion like this I get rid of my cravings fastest if I limit myself to strict Induction or even lower <10g carbs. I also weigh every day and write down everything I eat. You can also journal how you are feeling. Eating 50g of extra sugar or alcohol I will typically gain 1-2 lbs and the spike on my weight plot tells the tale. It takes 2-6 days of feeling bloated, stuffed up & achy until my weight is back on track. Feeling great makes staying on plan worth it.

Thanks Deirdra. Yesterday was tough, but I did it! I was very strict!

I had egg whites and veggies for breakfast

1 cups of broccoli and tuna fish for lunch

1 cup of broccoli and a pork chop for dinner

Broccoli is my go to food to make me feel VERY full Hard to eat when your stomachs full of broccoli

Maybe it is feeling tough because there is so little fat. You don't have to gorge on fat, but you need some. For example, swap eggs for egg whites- the vitamins and minerals are in the yolks anyhow.
What is on the tuna- is there mayo or oil/dressing?

Mayo is in the tuna.

The first 48 hours are always the toughest for me....

I second the high fat. When I have something a bit higher carb. I premake a whole pan of brockworst to have ready for the next several meals. One day of staying really full on a higher than normal fat does it for me. My husband has to watch his blood sugars really closely so what he has found really works for him is to hit the exercise bike or take a brisk walk after a highcarb meal. Drops his blood sugar right back to normal guicker than any of his pills can. Whether you do it with highfat super low carb or exercise normal blood sugar usually means a end to cravings

For me the first few days I don't count, I don't eat anything but protein, fat and lettuce. It just helps me dump all the junk out of my system fast and I don't have that crazy craving thing.
