I need some words of wisdom please.

On Tuesday, I was at 211.2. Go Me! Then on Wednesday, I was 216.2. I did not eat off plan in anyway. I eat only 20 total carbs per day and around 1200-1400 cals per day and I practice IF and my eating window is 12-6 pm daily. At first, I was like, water-weight, it will go away, but as of today, I am still 216.

I have increased my water intake hoping to flush it away and nothing. I am not bloated although, I feel "achy". I am pre-menopausal, so I don't always get my periods now. I just don't understand what is happening.

Any suggestions or words of wisdom, from my fellow WOE followers?

Jakz, check out a thread called why the scales can lie. I just bumped it so it will show in new posts under quick links.

Jakz, I don't have any logical answers for you. It can be tough to see the numbers do things we don't want them to be doing, and even harder when it seems like we're doing everything right, like you are.

Do not let those numbers sabotage you. Tell them to f* off and then you go do something fun. And eat a damn steak while you're at it.

There are a million reasons why you could be up on the scale and it could come bouncing back down any day. If it really sticks around, my usual go-to is just mixing things up for a day: Have a (relatively) high carb day. Add calories. Eat nothing but protein shakes. Spend the day at the beach or pool in the water and burn a lot of calories. Spend the entire day sleeping late and lounging on the sofa. I think sometimes our routine acts like a broken record--instead of sending us spiraling towards where we want to go, it just glitches and we need to give it a nudge. Totally unscientific theory, of course.

Yeah, it happens, and it's a bummer.

I decided to weigh myself every day, knowing that the downside is that you will notice all the ups and downs. And it is quite daunting.

I've been doing this for 5 months now, and I had one time where I gained 4 pounds overnight, and it never came back off in the next week (so not water). I had to fight back for those same 4 pounds all over again -- but I did, and then continued on.

But then I've had really good average weight loss, so I figure in another 5 months those 4 pounds (actually 8 since I had to lose them twice) will be irrelevant. Hopefully

I recommend weekly averaging (weigh daily and then average at the end of the week) OR ditch the scale altogether (which is what I decided to do).

I love this!!

Hi Jakz; you are winning each and every day you're staying OP, regardless of the scale. Since you eat 1200-1400 cals per day, try switching it up and eating a couple days per week of higher LCHF food intake. It keeps our body guessing. Science hasn't yet been able to understand all the interplay between women's hormones during menopause and what it does to our metabolism. You are going to get through this. I was just talking to my best girlfriend long distance on the phone last night and she's going through the same thing. She's right in the thick of menopause and it's not easy. That's why I love CityGirl's advice. Go easy on yourself and just keep doing what you're doing, eating OP one day at a time.

Thanks for the encouragement ladies.

I have just stayed on program and have decided that I am going to eat a rack of ribs or two today. They are my favourite "treat" . I don't put any sauces on my ribs, just a little bit of garlic butter. Yum.

I haven't lost the weight and although I am frustrated, I am not discouraged. At some point, the weight will go...

Exactly, Jakz. At some point, it will.

Dr Atkins said that a plateau wasn't a plateau until 2 months. And a sudden regain isn't, either.

Beyond being perimenopausal, which can mess up a whole lot of things, even the weather can do a number on weight. If it's hot and humid, even if I've mostly been in the house, I can always count on being up in weight in the morning.

If I haven't gotten enough fat, I will be less regular, and THAT can mean more weight.

LOTS of things can lead to a gain. But, as you have already figured out, staying OP is the real deal, if you want to get down again.

Hang in there. You have a lot of people rooting for you.

Hugs MickiSue! Just what I needed. This and all the other encouragement, sometimes we just need someone to encourage. Someone to be on our side.
