When I tried last time to follow this w.o.e. I used fitday to track everything I ate... I remember there were suggested percentages of fat, protein and carbs you should eat... cannot for the life of me remember them..

After almost four months on induction I am thinking of moving up the ladder to o.w.l. so these percentages would be a great help to me..

pretty sure it was protein 70% and carbs 10% which would make fat 30% ..
Does anyone happen to know? I've searched THE book with no success..

This is my third attempt... and there's a HUGE difference this time around...I finally got totally into the mindset necessary to succeed..what a difference it's making....YAY !!!

The protein and fat percentages should probably be swapped (low carb, moderate protein, high fat), and the sum of all three needs to be 100. For example, carb/protein/fat could be 10/30/60 or 10/20/70.

The exact macros for what 25g carbs would look like would depend on calories as well. Macros indicate the percentage of calories coming from each of the three macronutrients, so two people could both be consuming 25g daily carbs while having significantly different macronutrient percentages.

MyFitnessPal gives a macronutrient breakdown in the Nutrition view of the diary. That might be a helpful start. Fiber is not subtracted from total carbs, but it could be helpful in giving you ballpark numbers for meal planning.

The higher the fat percentage, the deeper into ketosis you generally go. I aim for c/p/f of 5/15/80, but everyone varies.

Thanks Ladies....

Got my yearly blood work results Friday and my doctor (who is a supporter of this w.o.e. ) said that it was time to lower the protein percentage... I have lupus so he's always alert to anything that might endanger the kidneys and my counts in that area were a tad elevated...

Friday and Saturday my percentages were: Friday... fat 78%, Protein 11% and Carbs 11%...then yesterday they were, fat 81%, protein 7% and carbs 12%...woke up this morning to a three pound wooshie.. So I'm thinking that those percentages are the ones to stick with for a while...

I LOVE this w.o.e. !!!

Hi~ I hope I'm not intruding on this thread to ask a related percentage question~ apologies if i am.

I just looked up the recommended amount of protein I should be eating for my weight~ .5 grams per pound, which would have me needing a LOT more meat than I've been getting during my first 6 weeks of Lo-Carbing.

How important is it to adjust my food intake? Currently weighing 278, which would mean I should be eating 140 grams of protein!??
Typically I've been eating about 80-100 grams of protein with a c/p/f coming in around 5/25/70 ~mileage varies i use Fitday to check in on my ratios.

I must add that I mostly have felt satisfied hunger-wise.. a little snacky sometimes.. but doing pretty good. Have lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks.

140 grams seems pretty high, far more than I would want to eat, and we are similar weights. I don't meaure precisely but tend to aim for about 60-80g of protein. When you say you "looked up" the recommendation where did you look?
