Default Breakfast FIND!! :)

I saw some pre made egg patties in the store the other day and thought eeewww. But then thought about how BUSY I am so I picked up a pack to read the label. WOW!

Egg whites, Tomatoes, Whole Milk, Spinach, Cornstarch, Sea Salt, Pepper

They are 2 carbs for a 4 inch patty. Some of you might not be able to deal with the tiny amount of milk and corn starch but for others this will be great.

I LOVE them!

They had another pack that was just PLAIN patties. I imagine it's the same ingredienst as above, just without the spinach and tomato, maybe the pepper too.

Anyhoo, I pack two frozen ones in my lunch on top of a whole can of green beans or spinach, microwave and YEE HAW!

The brand is - GOOD FOOD MADE SIMPLE, I got them at HEB here in Texas.

I wouldn't buy these due to the corn starch.
I prefer to cook foods fresh anyway...maybe you need to do that too.

Like I said, SOME people wouldn't buy them because of those ingredients but OTHER people like me, who work 12 hour days 6 days a week and have two babies under the age of 3 plus a husband and a household to run are sometimes QUITE HAPPY to find a wonderful time saver.

And I cook from scratch the majority of the time thank you.

Congrats on your find I've seen these and they seem like a neat idea and a great timesaver - I just can't convince myself I like eggs, but if I did, I'd be all over them!

Do they taste different from basic eggs? Something like this might be perfect for my hubby. He works really long hours and easy stuff to grab is key for him some days.

Did you find it in the freezer section or dairy?

Thanks for the heads up! This could work for those rushed work mornings. I keep pre-cooked bacon in the fridge, could make a bacon sandwich with 2 of these...

I see there's a whole egg version, too. Yay, I want my yolks.

MizKitty... What do you use for bread in your sandwiches? My husband used to LOVE making egg muffins at home with English Muffins before we started LC.

Well, on those rushed mornings, I was going to use the egg patties as the bread... with bacon in the middle! lol

But I do have an egg skillet like this one that I use to make myself nice little "buns" :

I mix 2 eggs, 2T cream, 2T flax meal, and savory herbs, salt and pepper, and spoon the batter equally into the 4 compartments. Flipped at halfway to set and lightly brown both sides.

They tasted normal to me, the tomato and spinach wasn't really
"loud" but I do admit to smothering them in hot salsa. It was there, I couldn't refuse.

They would be AWESOME with bacon! If you make low carb bread, or flax bread or can handle a locarb tortilla, oh Lordy!

These sound delicious, and using them to make bacon and egg "sandwiches" is genius.

Like Lindy, I prefer whole foods and cooking from scratch, but geeze sometimes I have lazy days, or days that just don't allow it, and healthy pre-made foods like these are a blessing.

I bring raw eggs with me and cook them in the microwave at work. I have tried similar products and liked them but I just prefer the real thing. And the little bit of extra time and effort it takes to cook a raw egg versus reheating these is not that big of a deal to me.

Important thing - break the yolk before nuking raw eggs or they will explode making a big mess.

Lindystar... That sounds mighty neat, especially with spinach.

But, MizKity... I like the looks for your egg skillet. Where did you get it? Never seen anything like that.

Just found the plain eggwhite variety today at store, and decided to grab them as a "bread" substitute. they were awesome sandwiching a veggy burger with sf catsup.
will definitely buy them again

as for corn starch- per patty, it is 2 carbs total- however one is the naturally occurring carb in 1/4c of eggwhites (there are 6g protein per patty, and 35 calories. So knowing that 1/4c of eggwhite is 30 calories- 6g of protein and 1 carb, it is easy to deduce the remaining 5 calories are cornstarch, or 1g of carb).
To me, that is really trivial.
