Default Low Carb Bread

Hello, sorry my first post is asking for advice, but I just wanted to ask peoples experience on low carb bread, pittas/wraps etc.

Ive done Atkins before and managed fine eating meats and eggs, but this time its really getting hard, so I've decided to try low carb breads and things to give me a little variety and a brake without coming out of ketosis, I've never done this before as I stop loosing weight if I go over 25g a day, but I came across a site called Low Carb Megastore and bit the bullet and ordered two loafs of there fresh baked low carb bread (1.9g), and Josephs pittas and wraps around 4gs each which I've seen on a few sites,

But, I've just eaten 4 slices of bread with eggs, but I've sat and worried and convinced myself its a scam and to good to be true , Can someone tell me it really is only 1.9g of carbs a slice (and how?), and has anyone had trouble staying in ketosis while eating the LC bready type things?

Thank you,
P

Hi for some reason they still make me stall even if I count them in correctly and allow the carbs. I then tried making my own which turned out very well by google all sorts of recipes and experimenting but they also made me stall! So this time around I've not even tried to do any baking at all. I use use lettuce for wraps. As I get further along and on maintenance I think I will try to bake my own bread again and see how that goes but I does tend to make me want more breads and baked goods so if it triggers anything again I'll need to leave it out. I suggest counting in your carbs allowance and if it makes you crave more breads or carbs and makes you stall then ditch it. Other than that if no adverse effects then add it in and enjoy.

First link: wheat gluten, soya flour, almond flour, fibre, yeast, sugar, salt. Excessive consumption may have a laxative effect.

Those are definitely all low carb ingredients. However... I'm not a fan of gluten. When I first went low carb I used a lot of wheat gluten and it utterly wreaked my intestines. Turns out I have a gluten intolerance and it is pretty common. Dr. Davis, "Wheat Belly" author and cardiologist, is also no fan of wheat. He says it is addictive and increases our appetite for carbs and also causes cravings.

So, just something to be aware of.

Second item:

Water, wheat gluten, corn starch, flax, oat fiber, whole wheat flour, oat bran, yeast, isolated soy protein, soy flour, soy oil, sesame flour, salt, sodium acid pyrophosphate, dextrose, sodium bicarbonate, sodium propionate (a preservative), fumaric acid, potassium sorbate, mono-diglycerides, sucralose, sodium metabisulfite.

Wow... where to start? I doubt they're low carb and 4 carbs each... no. Not when corn starch is the 2nd ingredient. Very, very dubious. Whole wheat flour? No. That is another carb-y ingredient. Seasame flour might be okay, but it is way down on the ingredient list.

I'd take the claims on this product with a huge grain of salt. Unless maybe the product is really, really tiny.

The carb count per slice is probably OK to use as they don't have stuff like artificial sweeteners or the things some of the low carb companies add to their product

But looking at the ingredients list I would not use it till I were at the 6th OWL rung, not on induction.
I notice it also has sugar but assume that gets "eaten" by the yeast in the proving process and can possible be ignored - maybe another member has more understanding of how sugar and yeast work can confirm this is so?

Also I notice they don't say what the added fibre is derived from - if from non-starchy plants then it might not be an issue.
