Hi everyone!
First week results are ok but not as good as I think they could be. I say this because I know I wasn't as disciplined as I should have been from when I did this a couple of years ago. I'm going to get back into journaling daily.
I've got to say tho, that I'm truly enjoying the recipes on 3FatChicks.

Donnaliz,
I didn't say anything in your journal but there are a few of your choices that are making your food plan a bit too loose. Once you tighten them up, you will start to lose again.

Thanks, Judy - I know. That's why I said I had kind of slipped into maintenance mode. I know what I need to do to start losing again, I just have to get focused enough to do it.

Haven't been around since my laptop decided to die on me. I'm checking in from a pc at the library. I'm gonna need a lot of hand sanitizer after this!

Still managing to retain my loss even through the holidays and TOM

Here's wishing everyone a Happy and Healthy 2009!

Happy Hump Day Everyone.
Hope everyone is enjoying their week. We are all doing amazing just look at our numbers.

Thanks Donnaliz for saying she was going to borrow the super charge SB book from the library. I too requested from my library. I just forgot about it.

I working on getting back on track. Making small improvements each week. This weeks focus is incressing water. With the bitter cold here its hard to drink water. Then I remember hot water with lemon. I'm cheap so I just 1 wedge and keep adding hot water to mug. I'm using a 22 oz mug and straw I seem to be able to drink more thru a straw.

Have a great day my friends.

Hi ...I'm Stephanie and I hope it's okay that I check in here!
I have been "on the beach" since 1/05/09 and thought that a little check in might be beneficial.

Welcome Erin and Stephanie!
Its always great to have new members join us here on the beach!!

I'm thinking about starting my own blog. Being in maintenance for 3 years, I've been feeling kinda like...is there anyone else out there that is also maintaining a loss more than 100 lbs? I've found a group of bloggers who are just that!! This can be done and I'm not a freak!!

On entering phase II- I started with 1 fruit per day first week. second week I tried a whole grain wheat cereal and was ravenous the entire day. That gave me a big clue about wheat and me and now I avoid it. Whole grain is not the only way to add in good carbs in phase II nor is it the best way! Starchy veggies are acutally better than grains, if you ask me!! sweet potato, butternut squash, carrots, peas...are all starchy veggies.

Summer squashes fall into phase I veggies so eat your heart out!! These would be zucchinis, yellow squash and spaghetti squash.

Doing a thorough phase II and trying many new foods has given me a large variety of foods to eat as I maintain my weight loss. It also gives me the chance to float between the phases as a tool to manage my weight. If you stay in phase I, where do you go from there if you gain by not adding back slowly while you are losing? I do a lot of floating!! Its just the way I eat and watch my weight now. I've accepted this aspect of my life and have stopped fighting it.

Wishing you all a great day!

Judy, thats great about finding bloggers that are in the same boat as you! We all definitely look up to you for your accomplishments but you are right, unless we have lost 100+ lbs its a little different, a special case if you will...

There was a commercial for Lindora on TV this morn with a lady that was in the process of losing weight, looked like she had about another 40-50lbs to go, and she said it best (not quoting because I can't remember her exact words); you tell a thin person that you lost 60lbs and its not that big of a deal but you tell a heavy person or previously heavy person that you lost 60lbs and they are ecstatic for you.

Its true.

Hi Stephanie!! I too am new to SB! I tried to click into your journal so I could say Hi and offer friendship but I noticed you didn't have a journal link. Please feel free to come over to mine and let me know if you need help setting one up.

Erin :-)

Wow! This clarified a lot for me and also helped to validate what I personally know about grains for myself. My OB is the only one who has said it fine to eat more veggies and not to worry about the grains while pregnant. I just feel good with them. I do like Ezekial cereal or an occasional 1/2 toasted Ezekial sandwhich. But not right now. I love it when you give examples.

Yes. Judy, you need that. How different to have people you can be on total common ground with and not be a mentor per se. Plus, a new place for a new season.

And yes...BMarieB, I find that my thin friends also don't understand the depth of pain (emotionally and physically) that comes with obesity. For them it is so simple..just fix it. Frustrating. Plus, my jealousy has never helped. I have lost 100+ pounds before and maintained for 3 years. I can say with all honesty and surety: The world and most of its people, favor, adore, and respect a thin person. I was overlooked before as heavy and since I regained the weight I am definately looked at, treated, and regarded differently. I know some of this is in my own head and how I feel about myself but its obvious too. My husband was with me when I was a size 4 5'8" model in California. He loves me fat or thin and all my inbetweeness. The world doesn't.
How could a thin person appreciate or even begin to understand this discrimination and the pride/accomplishment/total relief that comes from losing a good amount of weight.

Yes...it is confusing. I asked them at the SBD site and was told that cheese is considered by them...an unlimited source of protein.

That does not work for me as it is very calorie dense and high in sodium....even the low fat ones. I'm speaking about the hard cheeses here.

So, what I decided to do was count all cheese in with my 2 cup dairy daily allotment. After all, it is dairy!! I keep my hard cheese to a max of 2 ozs per day. I had to set up limits for myself or I'd easily go overboard!
