Exercise Bands! wow, really awesome
Hello all,
Just wanted to post on exercise bands. Recently started using them and realize for a small cost, you can achieve a really nice moderate exercise program. Like most guys, in my younger years had the olympic weight sets and all the garb... Sold most of it off many years ago and recently began a low carb moderate exercise program after weight moved up to north of 200lbs. I have a treadmill at home that helps to get in a 2.5-3 miles of relatively easy cardio, but then for rest of body use a mix of pilates, exercise bands and 2 dumbells for shoulder extensions and bicep curls. I had some help with my program from a Physical Therapist and it has a stamp of approval. Anyway, for a nice low carb moderate exercise and weight loss program, with muscle toning try the bands. They are also very inexpensive relative to all the money spent on dumbells, free weights and specialty exercise equipment. Since I am not going for heavy weight, muscle gain I will usually hit all muscle groups each workout day with longer reps.
Anybody else ever use those bands. I am completely sold on them.
PS.. my program
approximately 5 days a week and about 70 minutes total with Stretching.
2.5 - 3 miles cardio (About 30 minutes) with 5 minute cool down
3 sets of 20 dumbell curls
3 sets of 20 shoulder extensions
3 sets of 25 push-ups OR 3-4 sets with BANDS
2-3 sets of 15 tricep extensions with BANDS
2 sets of 20 close grip rows with BANDS
2 sets of 20 lat rows with BANDS
2 sets of 15 rear shoulder extensions with BANDS
2 sets of 15 Trap/deltoid extensions with BANDS
2 sets of 25 crunches (On yoga mat)
2 sets of 15 Pilates ab crunch
2 sets of 20 Bicycle kicks (1,2,3,1 - 1,2,3,2 cadence)
2 sets each side - pilates clams and hip extensions.
2 sets 30 pilates pelvis exercise with BANDS.
I go kinda quickly almost like circuit training....
