Hi, Just a question for other UK low carbers......I cannot find any ham that does not have sugar in some form listed in the ingredients! Does it matter if there is sugar in the ham? Does anyone know of any sugar free ham? please help!!!

I don't think any commercial ham is made totally wihout sugar as it is used in the curing of it.

That said, some ham has a very low carb count per 100 grams (the one I buy from Lidl has less than 1 carb per 100 grams) so if you pick the lowest carb count you can find and keep your serving size to about 100 grams you might find your body has no problems with it.

Our Lidl has a ham with no sugar in it, as far as I know, and the carbs are negligible. It's the most expensive one, but it's worth the price - the texture and flavour are lovely. Different stores have different stock, so it's worth looking at all the labels. We also get 97% pork sausages in Lidl - they're among the more pricey ones, but they're a bit cheaper if two packs are bought, so we buy two and freeze one of them. The Lidl cream cheese is really good and priced very low. We buy lots of it. I love ham or salmon spread with cream cheese then rolled up. Cream cheese is also good to make sauces from. We also steam leeks, then stir cream cheese through them before serving.
