Default another supplement to help diabetes?

I've had no luck whatsoever with gymnema, fenugreek
or cinnamon.I had limited success with bitter melon.
I continue to take alpha lipoic acid and chromium GTF
even though I'm unsure of their benefits.I was just
reading that a few studies showed Taurine to be beneficial
for improving insulin resistance.Even though I had promised myself to not add any more supplements for diabetes management,I just ordered Taurine from Puritan.Has anyone tried Taurine(probably 2000-3000 mg
per day)?
Eddie

Can you post links to the studies you mentioned about Taurine?

I did a bit of research but only saw references to blood pressure and cholesterol and it seemed iffy....

Don't ever say never to changing up on natural remedies for diabetes management... We gotta keep on keeping on... right?

Cinnamon only stablilizes and controls spikes a little and I don't think it is meant to lower blood sugar. Gymnema is a sugar blocker and should work at least somewhat if taken about 30 minutes before meals. I've had some good success with "Mai Wei Di Huang Wan", a Chinese Herb which lowers blood sugar.

I don't think anyone thing works and to me a combination of several supplements is better than getting back on the drugs which is a sure path to hell in a hand basket for me.... I notice if I just skip walking for 3 days, my BG goes up and average of 10 points a day. Three days in a row at 60g of carbs and I'm back at the borderline. It's a never ending battle Eddie, but we gotta keep trying. Stress over this can up the BG a few points also and I want to live a long time, so I can't be stressing too much, right?

I like all your posts. I hope I am not detecting discouragement from a guy who has given me so much encouragement. Post the results you get from the Taurine.

Thanks for the reply,Cajunboy.I had moderate
success with about 15 herbal pills a day, exercise
and medium carb diet.I now take 750 mg
Metformin ER with 5 mg Glyburide along with
ALC and chromium-a considerable reduction in
pills and my results are better.
Regarding Taurine:
Some of the "studies" looked like thay were done by people wanting to sell Taurine.
The others involved diabetic rats.If there are
any diabetic rats on this forum,Taurine may
be beneficial for them.Since I've already ordered
the Taurine,I guess I'll try it.
Cheers
Eddie

Good Morning,

I will be starting my glucotor tomorrow after my visit with my Doctor.

I will let him know that the next A1c test will reflect an all natural approach.

I may add that chinese herb Cajonboy has talked about as well.

I also found another site that supports good nutrition and natural remedies to improving overall health: www.mercola.com

Taurine is just an amino acid. I put it in my cats food to make sure he gets enough of it. It is very inexpensive.
