Default My Journey

Hello everyone, started Atkins (again) today. I was previously on Atkins in 2004-2005, and started it weighing 305, and got down to 195 in a year. I met my husband, and nine months later, had a beautiful baby and all of my weight back. I got back down to 240, but now am over 40, and the weight is creeping back up again, starting at 285 today. This is day 1 of my new journey. I know I can do this because I have done it before, stay strong my fellow low carbers! Amazingly, people ate cookies in front of me today and it did not phase me...tomorrow may be another story

Welcome Zozo! It is hard to get back on track but it can be done. It seems to be a lot easier to just say no to carbs than to attempt moderation. I also lost weight on low carb a few years back, regained 30 or so pounds, and am now low carb again as of about a week ago. It feels good to be in control again! You can do this thing.

Welcome back zozo
My advice to get back on track and make this healthy diet a lifestyle change is to re-read the book, and understand the challenges of "LC the second time around" ..they are not physical but more have to do with your mind-set. Check out these articles too. http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/...w-carb-dieters/. Age can impact the rate of loss but many members here are in their 60s and lose weight on LC, so you can too. You have found a great forum for support and helpful information. All the best,

Welcome, zozo. Some of us are on our second, third, or fourth times around. The point is: keep coming around. I look at it this way: I may have lost less than I hoped in more time than I wanted. But if I count the weight I did *not* gain in the past year, I'm two times ahead! Spoken like the eternal optimist.

Best wishes.
