Default 1 year smoke free!!!

I quit smoking in November last year so I consider this month to be my non-smoking birthday month.

I read Allan Carr's "The Easy way to stop smoking" book in about September last year and stopped for about 2 weeks, but then started again for some or other reason I forget.
Until November, every time I lit up I thought about what I had learned in the book and I felt really stupid.
Eventually I just stopped and I haven't looked back since.
The first 3 days were bad (withdrawls) and after that it was as easy as breathing.

I actually can't believe how easy it has been. I have not been tempted once, I have not had cravings once (after the withdrawls were over) and I know I will never, ever smoke again.
I am not an ex-smoker, I am a non-smoker.

I try to encourage everyone who is trying to quit to read the book.
It really appeals to your logic and common sense rather than making you feel bad about your health and breath and everyone else around you.

It works, even if the effects are not immediate - as in my case.

Congratultions! That is awesome. I just quit Sunday and am using the gum-but it tastes awful. I guess that is a good thing, cause I won't want to use it long.

I have serious problems with the nicotine gums and patches.

You are torturing yourself for what amounts to nothing.
The point is to get nicotine OUT of your system, not to keep getting it in by means other than smoking.

Trust me, go cold turkey or don't go at all. it's only 3 days till the nicotine is out of your system.
And read the book, it is an excellent source of motivation.

GREAT job and CONGRATS!

I used the patches 12 years ago -- they helped me "taper off." Different things will work for different people. The patch enabled me to avoid some of the real life symptoms -- in particular, the crabbiness associated with quitting.

Keep up the good work.

Actually nicotine doesn't stay in your body that long.

"Nicotine doesn't stick around your body for too long. It has a half-life of about 60 minutes, meaning that six hours after a cigarette, only about 0.031 mg of the 1 mg of nicotine you inhaled remains in your body. "

Physical addiction isn't just based on how much of a substance is left.
