Default Another girly Atkins Question

Okay. I am NOT new to this lifestyle. BUt... something in my monthly routine is. I don't know if maybe I have a bad batch of yaz or what.

I am spotting , and have been off and on all month. On carb up days ~ for a day or two afterwards I dont. But when my carbs get lower it begins again.

UGH! Has anyone else been eating this way for a while then all of a sudden have changes? I know my body fat percentage is way down from a year ago, coudl that cause hormonal fluctuations?

I love eating this way ~ and plan on continuing, but I DON"T want to deal with this either!

Yes, this did happen to me in a way, and it was while I was on a low-dose pill like Yaz (mine was specifically on Ortho Lo).

Basically, I started getting TOM on the third week (active pills) instead of on the inactive pills like I was supposed to. My doctor told me I was still totally covered, and she was wrong. After a couple of months of that I ended up preggo! Moral of the story: If your TOM changes for any reason, use backup birth control.

My personal theory is that losing a large amount of weight (I had lost 80 pounds when this started happening) throws the body off so much that hormone levels and everything that goes with that HAS to be affected in some way. I can't say if it's related to how many carbs a person eats in a particular day/week/month or not, but again, I'll reiterate: Use backup!

I've experienced this as well. Just a theory that I've heard is that when your body is losing fat, the hormones that are in the fat, are released into the bloodstream which can mess up your cycle. Like I said, just a theory but it makes sense to me.

One of the things that I learned here is that when you are shrinking those fat cells, those same fat cells contain estrogen and you are also squeezing that back into your system. That is one of the main reasons for changes in TOM and eventually, it will level off.

But I agree with Hillary --if you are wanting to avoid pregnancy, do make sure that you are being EXTRA safe!

Hormones ain't no joke! (paraphrasing Louisa May Alcott here!)

diet can definitely affect hormone levels in women, use of antibotics, stress, diet pills, and sudden increased or decreased activity may also affect your bodies reaction to bcp. It may also be just a natural change in body chemistry. Bcp dont always affect you in the same way over years of use.

some tidbits i picked up from being a receptionist at a gyn clinic many years back.
