Default Levoxyl - Hypothyroidism Question

I have been low carb for about 4 months. I am a 40 year old male, 6 foot 3 inches. 4 months ago I was 260 lbs and had cholesterol levels of Total = 300, Triglycerides = 275, HDL = 30, LDL = 225.

I am now 212 lbs. Total cholesterol = 160, Triglycerides = 90, HDL = 43, LDL = 98. In addition to a total change in diet, I run,jog,walk 2 miles a day along with various other exercises.

Heres the problem. For years I have always been "sluggish". I always seem tired. My weight loss and subsequent improvement in blood results, along with the exercise, have not improved my "always seeming tired.

My doctor wants to try 75 mg Levoxyl. My TSH levels have fluctuated between 5.75 and 12 over the past few years. My latest reading was just under 6.

Does anyone out there have any experience with Hypothyroidism and Levoxyl? If so, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ken

I am female and have been on levoxyl for years. It hasn't helped with weight loss but my energy is definately much higher. Last month I ran out and was without it for a week. I could barely get out of bed or stay awake for more that two hours. My doc has me on 175 mcg. much more than you need. But I say if the doc says you need it then you should take it.

I take it, have for 18 years since my own thyroid gland malfunctioned and had to be exterminated.

Yup-been on it for 6 years. It takes about a month to feel better, but it does help.
