Question Help! Dinner tonight at PF CHang's???

Good Chinese is my fav ... very excited but don't want to fall out of ketosis-- So, I know the sweet n sour chicken is out But I was thinking about the lettuce wraps, without the rice sticks? Unfortunately, all of there food is served "family style" and portions are hard to judge...the menu has nutrition facts but I can't tell how much to have??? Any ideas or should I eat something else?

Some advise would be greatly appreciated...3 days in and 4 lbs. lost! Really don't want to back slide!!

here's the menu:
http://www.pfchangs.com/cuisine/menu_main.jsp

Good luck to all! Let's keep it up! (and the weight down!)

Eat very little all day, save your carbs for that meal, go with fish and chicken even with sauces they will be the lightest carb wise (just try not to eat too much sauce), eat veggies, leave the rice and noodles, don't eat again until tomorrow.....

And drink lots of liquids/water today so your system is already in flush mode!!

Then tomorrow-----plan a high protein low carb day, drink lots/lots/lots and anything you've gained (most likely water retention) will drop away..

Enjoy yourself!!

Go to the area on the website that says specialty menus and go to the training table menu. Pick something from there. And ask for it with no sauce. They can cook it for you that way and you'll be much better off.

I agree with Ruth!!! You should be fine just drink plenty of water and anything that you might gain will just be water retention.

Wow! I eat out often and I "think" I am making a good choice, but this menu just shows me I am fooling myself. The carb counts are so high for foods I would have considered low carb...do they have to butcher everything with cornstarch and sugar? What a learning lesson.

I guess the ribs are an option. It says 6 carbs...I don't believe it though. Ingredientwise, I think sockeye salmon steamed w/ ginger is the cleanest...still plenty of carbs, but you just enjoy eating just a portion of the dish, rather than the whole thing. You could also order something like the Mongolian Beef, Wok Seared Lamb and eat half to get the carb count down to 15 gms or so.

However, don't get too bogged down with worry...enjoy yourself by make the best choice you can and eat until you are satisfied.

Thanks for the replies so far...

Ruth, I am hoping that your suggestion will work --I am working on getting my system into flush mode...How much water is needed? Or am I over thinking it...I drink 12-14 glasses daily ...is this enough also, I have heard you can drink too much and it be counterproductive??? Kind of off topic...

Now I am looking forward to dinner though...Thanks!

Make sure you ask for no MSG. It's a flavor enhancer usually made from sugar beets and Chinese is usually loaded with it. Not a good chemical to ingest-it's what causes cravings and hunger after a Chinese meal.

I always thought it was the 10 tons of rice and cornstarch you wind up consuming. But shes right, msg is bad stuff. And many people have allergies to it, so they wont bat an eye if you ask for no msg.

wok seared lamb, MAN, that sounds good. Is there any way one of the "family style dishes" can be steamed veggies? Roast duck or chicken?

I know this was from last night, what did you wind up eating?

Try Peking duck and ask for lettuce instead of the pancakes. Also they usually have good soup choices, as well as sizzling dishes (sizzling beef/chicken)

I read all 3 menus and very, very little would be even a poor choice for low carb.
Disappointing really.

Yes I was shocked! I know! I have to think twice when I eat out now. Some of the menu choices I would have thought were "low carb" were not even close. Do restaurants have to butcher everything with cornstarch and sugar. I guess I will get steamed meat and veggies and douse it in hot sauce!

And at that point...why bother going out at all? Frustrating...but you see why a fast food nation is such an obese one.

Default OF course...

So, we get there with my plan in mind....alternatives and strong will ready

And they are on an hour and half wait!!!! And of course no one wants to wait so the vote goes to...you guessed it the local Italian/PASTA restaurant!

No worries...Even though their Lasagna , Tortellini w/ cream sauce etc.... looked great, I chose the grilled chicken with veggies, boring but safe

Yay for me! Made it through--still having huge carb cravings but Keeping my eye on the prize!!

Thanks everyone for all you help!
