Default Just got Metformin prescription!!

hi,

I was diagnosed hypothyroid in May 2001 and diagnosed with PCOS in the beginning of 2002. I tried Diane 35 and Elysse and both made me loopy and tired. I couldn't handle either.
I never thought there was a true problem. I didn't start menstruating until i was 15 and after that it was very irregular, sometimes going a year without it. I went to the doctor because my mom was a bit concerned. Myself, being a 15 year old girl was like, "bonus, no period". Little did i know what was really going on in my body. I was prescribed bcp's back then and i went loopy then as well so i stopped. I never put two and two together, how could i? I was 15 and relied on my doctor to find out what was wrong.
Anyways, my new endocrinologist just gave me the prescription for Met after i asked for it. Diabetes runs in my family and my uncle died in june of 2002 because of diabetes related complications. So therefore, it is a matter of concern. I'm hoping it will help with the hair, acne(just on my shoulders, my face is clear) and weight. I work out very hard and watch everything that goes in my mouth and i've been stuck where i am for some time(weight wise) and a lot of my weight is in my midsection.
I'm at 500 mg for the first 2 weeks, 1000 for the next and then up to 1500 after that. I know there are horrible side effects and issues about alcohol but if anyone can provide any person benefits or successes it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Danyele

The side effects should not be so bad doing it that way. I take glucophage XR, and that way was really good for me the side effects only lasted a day or so for me, and never reoccured with increasing the dose.
