Welcome Alonda!

You are going to be so happy you tried this low carb plan! Do Induction exactly by the book and you'll be thrilled with the results. And as a bonus within a very short time that "carb addiction" will be a distant memory!

Good luck and let us know how you're doing!

Default Welcome!!!!

Hi Alonda:

After reading your post I just had to come out of lurkdom. So anyone who recognizes me, I slipped up but I'm back on the wagon! I learned my lesson. Hi, my name is Rita and I am a carboholic. Hi Rita!

Anyway Alonda, our stats are just about identical. I am also 26 years old and, up until two weeks ago, I also weighed 330 pounds. Obesity runs rampant in my father's family. Unfortunately, I seemed to have inherited all of my DNA from my dad. (I have cousins whom I resemble more than my actual sisters - who favor our mom).

Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer are all prominant in both sides of my family. My father has 6 brothers and every single one of them had either a stroke or heart attack at age 59. Three of my uncles have or had diabetes - two have already passed away. I am also scared spitless.

You are worth the trouble of changing your way of eating. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, especially yourself.

You have stumbled onto the most wonderful and supportive group of people to help you through this process. We are all in the same boat.

Last year at this time I started this WOE for the first time. In four months I dropped 60 pounds. It was difficult at first but I changed my routine, didn't drive by my old fast food haunts, walked a couple times a week, and stuck to it.

The first few days will be hard as your body is trying to adapt and detox. After that you cravings will begin to vanish. Check out the recipe sections on this forum, I couldn't survive without them.

Check in regularly and keep us up to date. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We are here to support you when you are having problems and we are here to celebrate your successes.

Good luck!!!

Rita

Default Welcome!!

I'm sure you have heard the saying "A journey of many miles begins with the first step". You have taken the first step. It will take strength and perserverance but you can do it.
Come back often for encouragement, good wishes, a shoulder to cry on, people to brag to and, most of all, a great group who will understand what you are going through. It all takes time. Be strong.
And be sure to post often with your progress. We're with you!!!

ohhhh myyyy....*tears in eyes...hand over mouth in awe*...I am overwhelmed at the outpouring of unconditional love and support I am awash in right now from all of you...OH thank you. I was so afraid I would have to do this alone. I have so much weight to lose...I don't know even how much or how to set goals or anything. Suggestions?? I am 5'7" and medium build. I suspect it may be as much as 200 pounds...yeesh. How did I get here? No, I KNOW how I got here. I never believed before it would be possible to be anything else (I have always been fat)...but now, I think there may actually be a chance...THANK YOU.

Someone asked about my support group. I live alone, so I control what comes into the house. My family will support me as they can, and my friends who are doing atkins will be very supportive, even though they live in other states, we chat daily on IM and weekly by phone, so lots of support.

Rita, you sound like my kindred spirit. I look forward to getting to know you better. Mr. E...you sound like you have the kind of sense of humor I can respect!! I look forward to that too.

Ya'll are brave souls...but if you are willing to stand by me as I stumble, babystep, and backtrack through the only hope I have for being healthy...then I am willing to try, and either way I am willing to stand by you. *deep breath*

Okay. And as the great one said....

And awaaaaaaaayyyy we go!!

Love ya'll...
A
