(Post) Weight-loss surgery question

Do you think that the body and immune system are weakened if a person has lap-band surgery so that if he develops an infection, the body can't fight it off? Specifically, do you think the nutritional intake (quality and quantity) during the "recuperation" period weakens the immune system so that it is not able to fight off infection or not fight it off as well?

(I have not had the surgery nor am I considering it.)

I think that anything that interferes with natural digestion is a bad thing. Gastric band is not so good, I expect gastric bypass is worse.
