My first reaction was "no way!" After viewing your pics, maybe there is! Looking good. I didn't know one could progress that fast.

Congrats on that transformation! I really like how you look so serious in the first pictures and then start to smile more and more with each picture
But I'm afraid that's all I can say, no help for your problem from me I fear.

Good luck!

Thanks for the positive encouragement. I didn't even realize that my facial expression was changing until I put all the pictures together. I look really unhappy in the first pics. haha. I guess weight loss does have a positive impact on the rest of your life. Who would have thought??

Just a quick update:

I'm now in my 3rd low carb phase of the CKD and am feeling much better now. The low carb haze is gone but I do seem to be hungry a lot more. Luckily, I get to eat every 2.5 hours.

Yes the last bit is extremely tough, I have been doing the same as you, in the past month I've dropped from 30% to 18% and now I've been told the next 6% will be another month and from then on it's all about correct training and less diet - that should already be all in place.

I'd recommend bodybuilding.com or myprotein forums for specific bodybuilding advice - as you know you can't spot reduce but with more overall muscle your metabolism will be ticking faster -

Sorry a quick edit: Just looked at your program and the reps you are doing generall 3x8 - is for strength training, I would recommend upping it to 3x12 for hypertropy to take place and train to failure on your final set.

With being 3 months into your program train 4x a week - 2 body parts per day with 7 days full rest before you touch that body part again, it lets you work it a lot harder and gives you time to rest it.

2exercises for small body parts, eg biceps, triceps, forearms

e.g. for biceps : barbell curl, alternating db curl both 3x12

then for larger body parts like chest and legs 3 exercises for each body part

A possible workout could be

Mon: Shoulders, Triceps, Abs
Tue: Back, Calves
Wed: Break
Thus: Chest, Biceps, Abs
Fri: Break
Sat: Legs, Glutes
Sun: Break

Every day you also want to be doing 30min cardio 60-75% max heart rate and if you truly want to drop those last body fat %s points you might want to consider an extra 30min pre work.

Hope this helps

Thanks Keokagal, I really didn't want my son to grow up and have his dad be overweight and out or shape. I want to be able to do all the sports with him.

Truly awesome. What a fast transformation! (though I'm sure it has taken incredible dedication, given the impressive muscle definition you've gotten). I hope you reach all your goals!

Thanks for the positive comments Tyritter. I definitely plan to keep going until I reach my goals. I plan to get down to between 7-8% body fat in the next 6-7 weeks.

Simply put a CKD is cycling out carbs. I would go 6 days with essentially no carbs (trying to keep them under 20 grams) and then on the 7th day, I would essentially carb load, eating 300-500 grams of carbs. Every day, I eat a sufficient amount of protien. On the low carb days I eat a lot of fat, on the carb up days, I would try to eat virtually no fat.

The diet is great to preserve muscle mass while benefitting from the low carb fat loss. Plus you get to satisfy your carb cravings once a week.

Check out my food logs to see what I ate.

I haven't been over here to the Active Low-Carber forums much lately but I just wanted to pop in and thank you guys for checking out my progress. I've still got a little work to do to get down to 7% body fat but I'm moving toward that goal.

Talk to you soon.

Scotty
