Talking Cravings

There are some things I would like to sink my teeth into that I've read (and been told) the cravings for would disappear. However, after a full 9 nine days of this diet I still want to gnaw my way through cheesecake, cookies, cake... I find that the low carb versions of these desserts don't seem as satisfying. I'm not sure if this is psychological or physical. I'm a true chocoholic and miss the heck out of it! But I must admit my willpower is growing! Why, just yesterday I even passed up a chance to have a small amount of low carb chocolate. Well, enough venting for now. Maybe I just have to be patient?

Low-carb substitutes may actually trigger cravings. It is best when you start to stick to meat, fish, eggs and veggies. After spending at least 2 weeks of a strict low-carb diet, the cravings should go. If you still feel like eating any of these substitutes, try and see how you react. If they don't cause you to crave or stall you, then you should be able to have them on occasions and on maintenance if you like them.

Smile Hi Kimberly

You might want to try L-Glutamine for your sugar cravings.
Take 500mg (one or two tablets) prior to each meal. These should ease your addiction.

And eat protein/fat when your are craving, roastbeef slices, turkey slices, chicken wings, boiled eggs usually keeps me away and under control.

Hang in there, it will pass, it sometimes take some folks a little longer before you notice that you don't have no more cravings.

Just curious but are you eating low carb versions on induction? I don't believe those are on the list. Only sugar free jello. Anything else is a no no.

In order for you to get over the cravings you MUST follow induction and get rid of that stuff. Only eat what is on the induction list.

Default Cravings

Thank you everyone for your responses. I will take your advice. I have not been using low carb substitutes for anything, except Splenda for my decaf coffee, which I hate. So I know my cravings don't come from trying to substitute low carb desserts for high carbs. I'm so addicted to chocolate and high carbs that my body and mind reel from the sudden stop. I guess it will take me longer than other people to get over the cravings. I appreciate your help.

That's very likely since we're all different. Try Chrissy's suggestion, which I forgot to mention. L-Glutamine and Chromium have helped a lot of people with their cravings.

I think something in my body is changing where sugar is concerned. For the last day or so because I've noticed the vegetables are beginning to taste sweeter. I'm taking this as a good sign, but I'll still take your suggestion. Thanks.
