Default Medications?

I am new and have a question regarding medications.
I am currently on five different medications; and I cannot discontinue any of them. How do I find out how many carbs, if any, are in these medications? Also is there a list oif medications that slow down weight loss on a low carb diet?

Thanks for your help!

Polly

Here's a list of the carb content of some meds, it's kid oriented though so may not contain what you're looking for.

I'm sure you could call the drug manufacturers of the meds you take to find out for sure, or check their websites. I don't think it will add up to too much, unless you are taking very big doses.

There are also some articles on the Atkins website:

and I'm pretty sure there's info on it in his book.

Hi there Polly......

The best way to find out the effects of your meds on weight loss is to ask you doctor or pharmacist. Either one will be able to give you that information. I suspect that the carb counts of the meds are negligible.

Many of the members of this forum are taking perscription medication and still manage to lose weight. Your meds may slow you down a bit (YMMV), but there are so many more benefits to low carbing besides weight loss that it's still worthwhile.
