Hello all, thank you so much for providing this forum. I'm looking forward to being part of the community.
I just finished my first month on a low carb regimen (Atkins, if it matters.) No sugar, no bread, pretty much no fruit. Plenty of eggs, fish and chicken; some beef; some hard cheese (although I have to say, as much as I love cheese, I haven't really eaten much of it. Probably less than before!) Pecans for snacks (I made up a recipe I will share that really is delicious.) The occasional treat tsp of natural peanut butter. And fresh veg once or twice a day (bell peppers, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers.)
I've been running almost every day. I'm pretty proud of that. When I started I could only jog along for maaaaybe half a block and then I'd have to walk for a bit. Now I reliably jog for about a 1.3 miles without stopping... today I intend to try for 1.5 miles.
In this first month I've dropped those first easy pounds... about 14 of them.
But I've stalled, somehow. At least the scale has stalled. It hasn't moved in 4 days. It's discouraging. Today I started feeling those "why bother? Just eat a brownie, at least that's gratifying" feelings that I don't want to feel. So I decided to join and hopefully keep myself on track in a supportive environment. Thanks for having me.

Four days is not a stall . It's simply your body adjusting to the dietary changes you have made. Expecting weight loss to be linear is unrealistic. You need to be patient and give it time. Most likely things will begin to move again but you need to be patient. The one thing that will definitely derail you and probably end in weight gain is to succumb to the temptation to eat brownies and other high carb junk.
What we do here isn't easy. Many of us have been "doing" LC for decades, with all the ups and downs that come with it.
Eventually, you will get to the point where feeling good is more rewarding than eating. Or you won't.
Either way, there will be people here who've done the same thing, probably over and over again. The trick is to trick yourself. Fake it til you make it.
Just Jo has one way to handle the temptations. Cotonpal has her own way.
Every BODY is different with a different mind set and dietary history. Choose yours. Stick with the Plan. Good health and well being will follow.
Welcome, Philomene! I had a similar experience after starting Atkins. I lost 11 pounds and pretty much stayed there for the first month. Your body does need time to adjust. I decided to celebrate being 11 lbs. lighter, practice my low-carb eating till it became second nature, and keep the faith that the weight would start coming off again. And it has. Hang in there!
Thank you all for the welcome and the comments! I've never done a long, planned, sustained weight loss before so I don't have experience with the pauses. Thanks for assuring me they don't spell doom.
I did stay the course yesterday and was rewarded with some scale movement today, so that's encouraging too. (Honestly I don't crave brownies - Atkins and Victoza are taking care of that for me (which is huge because until recently I have been a big pastry lover.) I was just discouraged and bored.)
Woo Hoo, congrats on your success thus far, yup as Bluesinger says, this is a way of life, you will get all the help and support and encouragement here, sometime ya gotta ask, but hey, we are here, and been there, one day at a time, drop by my journal sometime, I love company, I'll make tea...lol
Have a positive day, ttyl
