Default Losing muscle mass?

Help!
I had weight, fat percentage and muscle mass measured at my gym a month ago, and then again yesterday.
A month ago:
88.6kg
37.7% fat
52.4kg muscle mass

Yesterday:
84.5kg
37.8% fat
50.0kg muscle mass

Have never measured al this before:
Am I right to be worried about loss in muscle mass?
I've been strength training about 50 mins x 3 times a week, not much cardio
I'm eating under 30 carbs per day, mostly green leafy veg - is this ok?

I was feeling really good before I went to get measured - I know I am smaller, and was really surprised to be told I've lost muscle mass.

All opinions comments and suggestions gratefully received.

How much protein are you eating, how tall are you?

Did the method they use, include water or not in the LBM? that can screw up the calculations. Specially at that time of month.

Thanks Seejay

Height 164cm/5'4
Protein - not measured I'm afraid, but typically 3 eggs for brekky, chicken leg and thigh for lunch, 200gm/half a pound (uncooked weight) steak.

Not sure what she used - just stood on a scale and held a thingy in each hand.
Both times it gave my hydration as 46.4% which she also wasn't happy with, although both times I had drunk 2.5 litres of water and 5 cups of tea for the day!

Sounds like a bioimpedance scale, which does indeed count water as lean body mass (everything that's not fat). So your water level probably has a bigger effect than the muscle measures.

2 kg would be a lot of muscle mass lost in a month maybe, so I'd suspect the measure is not that accurate.

However! it's the trend that counts. Are you getting the trainer to take tape measurements too? that would be cool.

On the protein - 18g for breakfast, 37 for lunch, 48 for dinner = 104 from my fitday. So that is about 2x your LBM in kg, in protein per day. That sounds in the ballpark to me.

Yeah, unless you're getting it done by something very sophisticated like a "Bod Pod" or DEXA scan, and paying about $100 what you're getting isn't likely to be accurate.

Thank you! That's reassuring. I've had her use a tape measure this time too, and will go back in another month.
I honestly didn't see how I could be losing so much muscle mass - i have muscles in my arms I didn't used tone able to feel, and I am smaller than I was.
Cheers

Both of those are much better signs than a suspect measurement. Well done!
