My husband and I watched the Fat Head video a few weeks ago and thus discovered the low-carb way of life. So far it has been interesting.

We are especially interested in finding others like us to learn from. We are in the Arlington area of DFW.

Hi there Amelia. Welcome to the world of low carb! I haven't seen Fat Head, but heard many things about it. Is it told in a similar format as Super Size Me?

Hi Jessica,

Fat Head is in some parts a mockumentary of Super Size Me, but Noughton has said his biggest peeve (besides the obvious lies in super size me) is the hateful way that fat people are treated, both in SSM and in the news, etc.

The part of Fat Head though that really interested us was his explaination of how the sugar>insulin>fat cycle works, all of which we had both been ignorant of. This made perfect sense, which has lead us down this low-carb journey.

Hi Board!
We hail from Louisiana. Moved to Blanco, Texas first of this year to caretake a farm. We are loving it. Farm life feels so much better to me, my stress levels are rock bottom now. I finally feel like getting myself healthy! Would love to make a LC buddy that lives within an hour or so to chat with and maybe have a meet up once in a while.

LOL ~ your description of Odessa. Never been to Odessa myself. Been to Lubbock though. If anyone in this thread is in the Houston area and would like to talk let me know. I live southeast only four miles north of NASA!

I'm so glad to see so many Texans! I live in East Texas, and I've lived in Texas most of my life. I have lived all over...Wichita Falls, Garland, Mesquite, Hurst, Euless, Bedford, and 4 towns here in ET...and I love ET the best! The pace is slower, not as crowded, and people always wave when driving by!

I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks now, and just started really posting this week....so I'm hoping to revive the Texas board!

Where in east Texas are you Tammy? I used to live in Paris. That's more northeast.

Just wanted to say hello to all the Texans. I'm a displaced Floridian in Wichita Falls (aka southern OK). My least favorite place of all the places I've lived...soooooo boring.....but I'm here because it is where my fiance is at for now. There is hopes of moving to Austin in the next 1-2 years...so looking forward to that.

Nice to see so many low carb'ers in Texas!

Hi smplieash!

I went to MSU for a while back in the early 90's, though Wichita Falls has probably changed in the years since.

Hi everyone,

Haven't been here in awhile, but restarting with a vengence. I live southeast of Houston near Galveston Bay. Got a little nervous when that TD was headed our way. Wish we'd gotten some rain though.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Gumby you are in my neck of the woods. I live in Clear Lake. And I didn't even know a TD was out there!! It's kind of early isn't it? I usually dont' even start watching out for hurricanes until the middle of July!!

Hi Becky,

The TD disspipated pretty quickly. Hopefully it won't be very active this year.
