provera
Hi, I take provera too, but for the opposite reason. I have pcos, but without provera (or BC) I have a period that WON'T STOP. I like provera much better than BC, but I still don't wan't to be on artificial hormones long term....
LC'ing has also helped reduce some of the problem. I prefer to use natural progesterone cream instead of provera - but after a few cycles it starts to lose its affectiveness because its hard to be consistent - but I have noticed that if a do a few cycles with provera, it helps get my body back on schedule, and then I gradually start using the cream instead. My OB poo-poos the use of natural cream, so I don't tell her about it...but other doctors are very enthusiastic about it - its just hard to find a doctor who will support the alternatice route. But there is a growing movement towards the use of NATURAL progesterone cream as opposed to taking synthetic hormones orally. And natural progesterone cream has NO side affects. The trick is simply figuring out the dosage and the timing.
But anyway, in regards to your question - yes, I have found provera useful in "jumpstarting" my cycle. I figure if I can use provera long enough to figure out where my cycle naturally falls, then I can better maintain it with LC and progesterone cream.
(BTW - natural progesterone cream is available in healthfood stores. I currently using Pro-gest (emerita), but Nugest 900 is also a good one. Unfortunately, unlike provera..cream isn't cheap.)
