Default Buttermilk ranch

This is not my recipe, so let me link you all to it: Sexy Ranch Dressing!

The author of that blog is great.

I made mine today and it was delicious. I input the ingredients into a nutrition calculator and came up with just under 1 net carb per two tablespoons (because really, who uses just one?). I'd say it's borderline induction-friendly.. it does have buttermilk, which is not on the list, but taking into account serving sizes vs what's in the batch as a whole, I feel comfortable with it. It's also a great way to get your fat calories up.

From making mine, I'd say 1 cup buttermilk is probably better if you like a thicker dressing. 2 cups isn't exactly runny, but close. Also, my finished product tasted like tzatziki sauce, the sauce you get with gyros. I'm not sure why, and it is a bit different from bottled ranch, but it is GOOD!

I make a buttermilk ranch that is similar, but I have sour cream instead of cream cheese, and all the base liquids are in equal proportion:

3/4 cup mayo
3/4 cup buttermilk
3/4 cup sour cream
2 tbs dried chives
1 tbs dried parsley
1 tbs dried dill
1.5 tbs of garlic powder
1 tbs onion powder
S&P to taste

You can also substitute in fresh ingredients for the garlic and herbs, but adjust accordingly - maybe double the portions for herbs but keep the minced fresh garlic to the tbs-ish portion (I'm terrible with portions since I measure like my mom used to with a "pinch of this and a handful of that" haha, but these dry ingredients I finally wrote down when I was experimenting)...

This fits perfectly into a standard sized pickle jar with room to stir it up without spilling!
