Welcome back from Paris, sounds like you had a wonderful time. Happy belated birthday too. awww how sweet of your other half to get everyone to sing to you.
I hear you about the mock danish. i started off with bacon and eggs every day. got sick of that after 2 weeks so made the mock danish, got sick of that too and fancied kippers and scrambled egg but found the kippers too salty. i'm back to mock danish again lol. i am going to Italy next weekend and i just hope i can say NO to pasta, pizza and ice cream

Hi peeps,

I am a Londoner too!

What is Stevia?

Atkin's rules, 10 lbs in two weeks!

Does anyone know where to buy Konnyaku products in the UK?

Hello MintT, welcome to the boards! Congratulations on your weight loss so far Where in London are you?

Stevia is a plant that has sweet leaves and its extract is used as an alternative to sugar. I believe it comes in a granulated and liquid forms, but some people use the dried leaves too. It is low in sugar alcohols as far as I am aware, so it doesn't tend to spike your blood sugar. Something along those lines anyway. It can have an after-taste of liquorice/aniseed though.

Here's a link to the lowcarbmegastore which sells shirataki noodles. I don't know of any other products apart from the noodles though.

Hi MintT and welcome. You can buy Konnyaku and Shirataki from Mount Fuji Foods and also from Japan Centre. They both do mail order and are equally efficient and prompt. Japan Centre is a lot cheaper though. I buy in quantity to save on the shipping costs.

Hi there fellow Brits!

Hope I'm allowed to pop in here! I no longer live in the UK but will be descending on my homeland in six weeks, with my 2 daughters and German husband.

I just had a look through this thread to get into the mood for the UK again!

When on holiday for 3 weeks in the UK last year, I managed not to gain any weight, which I thought was pretty impressive considering we were camping for half the time and staying with friends/relatives the rest of the time.

I'm now aiming to get the last few pounds off before we go and then maintain whilst there.

Tesco's, Sainsbury's, Morrison's and Asda, here we come!!!

BTW, somebody mentioned Coconut Oil in this thread and I just wanted to say, from my experience, it's well worth looking into.

I haven't cooked with it much to be honest, but I use it as a face cream, body lotion and hand cream. I've thrown out everything else!

My husband always says I don't look my age (44), but he's maybe biased! However, recently, after using the VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) for a couple of months, I was complimented by a local greengrocer on my "lovely skin". I could swear myself that the dark circles I've had under my eyes for years are also a lot less noticeable.

Someday I'll get round to cooking with the stuff, too...

amanda

P.S. I hope the weather will be better in the UK this year than in 2007. Gosh was I glad to get hold of a fleece jacket in the sale when I was in Wales. Would have froze to death otherwise at the beach.

i love coconut oil too and eat it by the teaspoon when i get a craving for something. i have used it in cooking also but i find it evaporates very quickly or gets absorbed by the food im cooking so now i stick to olive oil and butter.
The weather has been beautiful here all week but it's due to change for the weekend, typical.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday Amanda.
Hey Rosie, neighbour.
