If it was sugarless you can forgive yourself. If it was sugared, you screwed yourself. Sugared gum is murder on your teeth anyway.

Thumbs up

Bumping this up again, since the first post was so fabulous and always needed!

I was thinking about something I read once from FlyLady - our bodies are not garbage cans! We see leftovers on our kids' plates, we eat them. We try eating "just a bite" of a candy bar and then we don't stop until it is gone. We just have to remind ourselves (and I'm telling myself here probably more than anyone else) which foods are good for us and which are garbage. If we're holding in our hand a piece of food that is not good for us, it is garbage and needs to go into the trash. Our bodies are not garbage cans!

I agree with you that Razzle's post is fabulous, but just FYI, there is no need to bump, since it is a "sticky" thread. That means it has been "stuck" at the top of the forum.

This thread is fantastic. I struggle with binge-eating and lately my cravings have been through the roof. Anything sweet is my kryptonite. As soon as it touches my tongue, it's like a switch goes off in my brain and I have at my kitchen unrestrained. But I'm working through it and I WILL get better.

I will definitely be referring to this thread often

My weakness isn't sweets it is PIZZA and PASTA! I have the cravings under control as long as I have food prepared in advance. I enjoy the cauliflower pizza and squash pasta. It is just hard to get in the habit of cooking and shopping in advance of the cravings.

Flowers,
I have heard from others who have had the sweet thing and been able to pick up and carry on total LC the next day.
I have heard also from others who cannot stop.
I am one who cannot stop.
Even if the cheat is small, I end up on a bender of at least 2 to 4 weeks,
trashing all my progress.

It depends on what kind of person you are.

My father could have his wee cheat and be disciplined enough
to get back to his diet the next day.
He lost all his over weight and got down to college weight.

Well I don't know how u can live your whole life not ever "cheating" but really that is what I need to do. I never truly enjoy the cheat anyway. It is immediate regret. I never regret when I don't eat the sweet or carb. I have to remind myself of that. Constantly. It is easier to say no when I am near goal feeling looking good...until I freak out and fear success. Oh well. Got to keep trying. Not give up. At least when I keep trying I don't pass a certain weight and size. I am down from an 18 to a 12. My goal is a solid size 8. Oh so beautiful! I feel so light and right at that size. Got down to a 10 not long ago but quickly lost it. Trying to hang on to size 12 for now while I figure out how to get rolling again. I want this.

Flowers, from an 18 to a 12 is AWESOME! I should do so good!
So far, I've lost 5.5 in 4 days. Went for a 1 1/2 hour power walk with DH
and was ANOTHER pound down (6.5) but that's just water and I won't
count it unless its still gone tomorrow.
