I am starting Friday, is there any tips or books I need to look into? I am headed to the store now to get the required foods, and toss out my junk.

I think this site is actually the best source of information.
Paleo is what you make it. You can be very strict or tailor the plan
to fit your weightloss/health needs.
I managed to find Neanderthin at a used bookstore in town and it is
a good read. I really find the most motivation from this site and marks daily apple. For me I do this for weightloss and am not so much a stickler for
whether my beef is grass fed or not. If I can find it- great ! If I can't then that is okay too. You already have a lot of pressure on yourself and the main thing
is to do what works for you.
I don't do dairy, grains, tubers, legumes, or sugar.
I eat lots of fruits, veggies, lean proteins, tea, coffee and occasionally processed meats.
I try to stay away from too many extra oils and salt
try new healthy foods instead of focusing on what you can't have and
good luck!

Very well said Zelda77. I don't stress out over finding grass fed meat. I do spend a little extra for some better quality eggs and butter. In my area the price difference is very little. Primal Blueprint is an easy read with good basic information. Robb wolf seems to go a little deeper with gut health and fat sources.

You can find lots of info online. There's a lot of variability in what people consider paleo or primal.

Go one day at a time and don't give up. You will feel so much better.

This site, Marks Daily Apple. People here are friendlier, I think it is a younger crowd over there.

Wheat Belly, Deep Nutrition

Coconut oil, bone broth.

Welcome!
Read back a few months in this forum, there have been many tips for books, recipe websites, podcasts, etc. I posted one here http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=447148
Here is a list of "principles" you can work through, doing only what you can, adding things as you go, so not to be overwhelmed. http://www.modernpaleo.com/principles.html
Also see her recent thoughts on how to adjust even these for your own optimal health.
Just noticed OP started this thread a few weeks ago. How are you doing?

I am starting what I assume from what I've read, Primal way of eating. Is Primal the same as Neanderthin? I tried doing research on line and I'm not willing to go strict Paleo but like the 80/20 ratio of Primal. I call it a modified form of it for lack of knowledge. I'm just not willing to give up all dairy.

Zelda - The advice you gave Cathy seems more like the way I want to do this.

Also will do more reading here and look up those youtubes and websites recommended.

Cathy - Thanks for starting this thread.

Neanderthin by Ray Audette is closer to a strict Paleo, by common definitions. Primal, created by Mark Sisson, is more flexible in allowing some dairy and his 80/20 rule, though depending on your health issues and goals, the closer to 100% you are may be better. If you are wheat intolerant, and have bread every weekend, you might never clear skin conditions, joint pain, etc. It is also easier to lose weight if you stay low, under 50 g, on his carbohydrate curve.
