Do you prefer to walk/run on the treadmill or outside?
Hello all,
Just wondering if you prefer to walk and/or run outside when it's nice or in the comfort of your own home/gym on the treadmill. Just looking for your thoughts.
I enjoy being outside and marching around. I have never had any body issues, so even when I was at my highest weight, I still liked walking outside. Maybe it's a Lack-of-light-in-Canada during the winter syndrome. LET ME OUT!!

I have never liked treadmills. They are hard on my legs and knees. Outside i feel like i am getting somewhere and i can push myself harder. What i do is push myself to the limit as far away from home as possible that way i have no choice but to give my body the little extra push to get back home. The more i want to get back home the faster i move. My problem is not being tired when i get home from work. I prefer to run at night because of a self esteem issues and its cooler and i don't overheat as much at night.
I own a tredmil and i hit it on days that are too hot or bad weather, but I would much rather be outdoors, maybe with a friend for motivation and it also makes the workout go faster.
It depends on my mood I guess. I'm really clumsy too, so I am always afraid that I am going to get whipped off the treatmill. I'm not ever coordinated enought to run and watch TV so it gets pretty boring just running in the same spot.

Due to my weight at this point, the treadmill at the Y is very safe, no one cares what I look like or what I'm doing. As I drop the weight, running outside will be more enticing. I do however, walk around Greenlake (3miles) on the weekends, so I enjoy the weather!
I like my treadmill, sort of. Basically, I haevn't been able to commit to anything else in years and I have been able to get my fat arse on there so that is why I have to say that I like it. It is a tad boring but it is better than nothing.
I own a treadmill and I love it because it is easy to keep track of my progress. Sometimes I will go for runs outside, but it is usually when I have some extra time and just sqeezing in some more exercise at the end of my day.
I prefer being outside over the treadmill any day. The treadmill here is basically used when there's inclement weather only. However, when walking on the treadmill, my treat is to watch TV while doing it - I never watch TV any other time, so that makes treadmill time special.
