Talking NEW TO INDUCTION

I am really excited about starting Induction with Atkins. It feels like an experiment what with the Ketostix and all. I feel really confident that I will be able to reach OWL and continue with this WOE once I am at my goal weight.

I have been cutting down Carbs for the last week and find that I have no desire for some of the things I used to CRAVE! I also think that reading TONS on the subject puts you into the right frame of mind.

Well, tomorrow is my first day. Wish me luck,,, I would love any ideas on staying motivated (I am sure once my ketostix turns purple that will be motivation enough) or recipes for Induction (simple ones) .

Kristy

HI and welcome. Good luck with your new way of eating.

Don't get too hung up on the Ketostix. Most find if they show purple that they aren't drinking enough water...so a little colour is good.

Try and keep your eating simple especially during induction and I think you'll get the best results (i.e. stay away from artifical sweeteners as much as possible).

I also planned when I was going to start doing Atkins...by starting to drink decaf coffee about 2 week earlier.

Sounds like you're motivated and prepared. Post often and let us know how you're doing.

An experiment is exactly how I see it too My body is just one large testing ground (that's rapidly getting smaller )

As Sharon suggested, do not get too hung up with the stix, they are a guide, but many people who use them never even show trace while they continue losing weight. Also, a darker colour is not preferable. Dark purple is usually a sign you're dehydrated. I never get above trace or small and I've been losing steadily for 10 weeks. Heck, I forget to test now. They can be a good motivator though when you're first starting out.

Cutting out carbs in preparation for starting your LC plan will probably make induction easier for you. This is a good thing.

I would suggest you take a look around this site and read up on some of the "Low Carb Tips" (orange bar at the top of the page) and make good use of the search feature (also top of page, to the right); there's all kinds of useful tips and threads.

Best of luck to you, Kristy.
Nat

Thanks Nat, , yeah, i know what you mean about planning. I cut my carbs drastically in the first week before and it has helped. I don't miss my morning toast so much as I thought I would. I have printed out just about every article from this site and it's my little bible now, haha. I read it all the time.

I made it through day one anyhow, , I am starting to feel a little woozy in my head though. I am sure this will pass. I will keep updated on my progress.

Thanks for the reply.

Kristy
