Meloxicam is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti inflammatory drug) .. they're notorious for causing weight gain due to fluid retention. Thankfully it's temporary and will eventually go away when you're off the drug. In this case, it's clear that that the benefit of pain relief for you far outweighs (ha! pun) the side effect. There's an old thread with some good information here .. NSAID's and fluid retention, weight gain ..
