Question WW Core Plan anyone??

Is anyone doing the Weight Watchers Core Plan here? I dont see it listed here and I thought it was a version of Low Carb similar to South Beach? I am starting it this week, tried Atkins and couldnt hack it so Im back to square one, I think this will really work for me though, just wondering if anyone else has tried it?

Gwen

As I understand it..Weight Watches is about watching fat and calories. I read up a bit on the Core Plan and it allowes fruits and whole grains, two things that aren't really added into Atkins diets until MUCH later. But, it seems most people kind of do their own thing around here. I was adding nuts in Induction, LOL, and lost weight just fine.

Dieting and changing the way you eat isn't about doing what everyone else is doing. It truly takes some soul searching. You must find what works for you. Is it helping you lose weight? Do you feel good (emotionally and physically) eating this way? Is it something you can do for the rest of your life? If not, then it isn't for you. I would never EVER go on a low fat/low calorie diet ever again, because I can't physically or emotionally live on it. I am weak and crabby and want to cry all the time (I guess because of lack of energy). Atkins, well, I shouldn't say Atkins because I'm really just low carbing, works for me because I really love fat, I love meat, and I love veggies. I also love dairy and fruits and consider those desserts. I have so much energy and my body feels 'clean' in and out when I low carb. It truly is a way of eating that I can live with for the rest of my life. That is the important thing.

Yes, WW Core is very similar to South Beach. I've got a sister and a good friend both doing Core, and they are both having success and love the plan. They like variety, so I think Atkins limitations wouldn't work for either of them. I'm just glad they both found something that works.

Check out the South Beach threads here, too, since Core is so similar to South Beach. Judynyc, IIRC, is on the Beach and she has not only reached her goals, but she's an incredible inspiration around here.

I have just recently joined WW. I am doing the flex plan as low carb as possible. I have been eating low carb for a while now and just needed something different.

I'll be switching to weight watchers next week. I'm gaining on atkins now so I think my body needs a change for a while.

I just joined WW last night and while I wholly intend on keeping to a very LC WW, I also wanted some accountability which WW offers with the weekly meetings. I know WW is more about counting fat and all that which I don't really do so I hope I can find some sort of middle ground.

You could always go to the meetings and say "I counted x amount of fat!" when really you mean "I counted x amount of carbs!" lol

1fatmomma, over at the Weight Watchers board, Bootcamp Buddies, there is a CORE thread with LOTS of info, and one for recipes. Just about everyone on CORE loves it. Here is the link:

http://www.healthdiscovery.net/forums/

It's the best WW site, lots of nice people, loads of tips and recipes for both CORE and Flex.

The CORE board is almost halfway down, the first one under BCB General Buddy Groups.

The CORE recipe board is the first one under BCB's Favorite Recipes. Have fun!

Another site, DWLZ (Dotti's Weight Loss Zone), also has a CORE forum, at:

http://www.dwlz2.com/forum/

It's almost halfway down, second one under WW Support Forum.

This is another good board, but not as active as Bootcamp Buddies. If you go to the home page, you'll see links to tons of information, including points for eating at many different restaurants. Dotti also sends out a newsletter that's interesting, you can sign up for it.

Let me know how you like these sites. I hope they're helpful to you.

That's great Jen! You said you were doing WW as low carb as you could, so you're doing low carb/low fat?

I'm guessing you could. Because the choses are so flexable that you could
pick low sugar fruits (berries, melon) lower carb grains (flax crisps, soy etc)
and of course protein.

That's what I plan to do. I'm joining this saturday.

Yes I am higher carb than I was when doing Atkins but significantly lower than most people doing WW. I average 50-100 carbs/day.

I just switched from Flex to Core...I was eating too many carbs! I am still losing but I think I will have better results with Core!
