Default New..first post..Question?

I just started the atkins my goal is 100lbs my current weight is 150lbs. I did atkins once before and it worked well I went from 153lbs. to 138lbs. then fell off the wagon. I was just wonder I count carbs and calories no more than 20 carbs. How many calories is recommended with atkins? Does anyone know or have any recommendations or suggestions that would be great.

Best to get the book DANDR and read it. There aren't caloric restrictions. LC'ing kinda does that for you...e.g., when you're in ketosis, it's easier to be satisfied with less...

Best of luck to you...

I'll throw in a caveat to that. I found I can eat enough calories on Atkins that I don't lose weight. If you find yourself not losing weight, cut back on the calories a bit. Its easiest to do by trimming back the fat and eating lots of protein and veggies.

Hey!...

I just found this for you from another thread. You can try checking the thread- Atkins stall and plateaus by jude. There's a wealth of info out there.

meanwhile read this-

'While it is true that calorie counting is not necessary on Atkins, this is not a license to gorge yourself at every meal. The Atkins Nutritional Approach is most effective when you eat until you are satisfied, not until you can’t eat another bite or you’ll explode. Also, try eating slower to allow your body to signal when it is full before you overeat.'

i keep it above 1000, and try for under 1600 a day. if i'm very hungry, i up it a little, and if i'm on the low side for a few days in a row, i up it to around 1700 to shake things up. the general reccomendation i keep seeing is to increase your calories by a few hundred every few days so that your body doesnt adjust to lower calorie intake.
