Default Headaches

I've been lifting weights for quite a while - about a year. Just lately though I have been experiencing headaches - bad throbbing headaches - brought on by lifting weights. I don't understand why I am getting these now, especially since I'm used to lifing weights - I'm not a newby. It started last week, and has been happening everytime I lift now. And it doesnt' matter what I'm doing - benching, squating, or even pushups, I get the head throb right off the bat. Never happens during cardio though. Anyone else experience this out of the blue - is this just exhursion headaches? If so, how do you prevent them?

The first thing I would check is that your breathing correctly when your lifting. I had a habit of holding my breath when I started lifting heavy and i had a throbbing head pain. Also make sure your not tensing muscles around your neck / shoulders. Hope this helps!

Here's a great article on it: http://baye.com/safety-considerations-for-exercise/

For breathing technique check out the workout videos posted on bodybyscience.net, you'll see the subjects breathing fast throughout the lifts especially in the later reps.
